So I took off yesterday at the crack of dawn to make the 5 hour drive to the location in the first pic. After a rather blatant "walk up to it like you own it" approach in broad daylight, I left my partner concealed beside the front door to check the front of the building for a poe. Didn't take long to find one but upon returning to retrieve my partner I could tell right away she wasn't going to do it. Seen that puppy dog, I think I'm going to cry look before. Entirely my fault, I should have known better than to leave her there alone to think about it. If you're new to this, like she is, rule #1 in my book: NEVER stop to think about what you're doing. You'll find a way to talk yourself out of it.

So as a consolation prize for this epic fail, we ended up at the shithole in the rest of the pictures. I'd seen pics of the place from a few years ago but I must say, the past few years have not been kind to this place. There was a car parked at the front door so I knew someone else was there. I spotted them quickly and they weren't trying to conceal themselves at all, so I figured they belonged there. I purposely bumped into them and the guy claimed to work for a developer that had recently purchased the property. He claimed they were considering restoring the place to some degree. In my opinion the majority of the buildings were reusable, mortar and concrete structures can remain structurally sound for a century, but those places went out of business for a reason. It would be nice to see a place like this resurrected . . . . but for what would be my question ??

Yeah I heard the first one is tricky. Looks massive though. Has anyone successfully gotten inside?

The second place i"ve been to has really gone downhill in the last few years. I have before and after pics, somewhere

The first location is notoriously well watched and the police like to throw the book at people caught inside. There was a thread about it earlier this year. A few people have got in without getting busted, but it seems like more have been caught.

The second place is a real shame. When I was first getting into UE I wanted to go to this place very badly. But it seems to have gone downhill quickly since then. The fact that the GPS coordinates are posted on a easily found article likely did not help matters.

I've been inside the first place years and years ago. We did an overnight trip and didn't have issues… although the place was boarded up like crazy so we literally had to climb to the 2nd (maybe the 3rd) story balcony to get in.

But yeah, I hear it is insanely well watched, so if you try it again, be careful. Or maybe you should've just gone in at that point if you were right next to it!

The majority of the place was very repetitive, but had some cool stuff going on.

Did the same thing a few weeks ago, but in reverse order. Shit resort first, then the big place.

But I didn't expect to get into the one, just wanted to scope it out since I hadn't ever even drove by. Parked out front, and security rolled up pretty quick. Talked to them, they're supposed to call the cops first then approach people. Being on those roads at all is trespassing, all private property.

So I didn't respond to this ridiculous comment until I could return to that location, which I did today. Did I do anything differently based on this new information? No. I walked down the road, stepped over the chain with the "No Trespassing" sign on it, up the front driveway, stopped to take a few pics of the building and stepped into the first broken window I saw. Four hours later I walked out the same way I went in without seeing or hearing from anyone that gave a shit about what I was doing there.

I don't know you and quite honestly, I don't want to know you because comments like that from people like you are what make this forum suck ass. Apparently you've been around here a lot longer than I have so I'll put this as respectfully as I can: If you don't have anything productive, or informative, or even remotely accurate to contribute, then why not just shut the fuck up ??

I don't understand . . . . .

For obvious reasons I found your comment mildly insulting so why you wouldn't expect to be insulted in return is beyond me. After my first trip there it was painfully obvious that someone would have to be a complete idiot to get busted exploring that shithole. You don't know me and you never will know me, but for some reason you felt the need to post that I'm a complete idiot?? You had no clue who you were talking about and apparently no clue about the location you were talking about, so why talk ??

That's just flat out not true. Just because things change doesn't mean they never were. I know plenty of folks who have gotten bused here. I also know several who have done it without issue. I had the same experience with a Catskills resort. All I ever heard is that it's alarmed and the caretaker lives inside. We spent a collective 5 hours in that place over two days and didn't have any trouble. Does that mean I'm going to call the people who went there first "complete idiots"? No, because they just had bad luck.

I get the point bud, I truly do, but telling me your personal experience is one thing. Those comments are based in fact and have value. To tell me that I shouldn't go to a particular location because if I do I'll get busted, is meaningless and offensive and lets see, it was quite wrong too. I just wish more people would think about what they're saying here before they post it.

In keeping with this theme, you do know that SleeperSpirit is the one who started with you right? I didn't say I agreed with what he said, or that I agreed with you either. I was just making the point that occasionally the security status of places changes, and what most people believe to be true or have experienced isn't always the case. For what it's worth though, I don't think SS was even trying to demean you. It's hard to judge with no context, but he didn't say anything about you being inexperienced personally. Lashing out in return only shows that you took it as an insult, and possibly believe that you have to be inexperienced to get caught exploring. Neither of which is the case. Try not to get so worked up in the future. After so many hours of frustration from fights with strangers online, it's become glaringly obvious that it's always best to just ignore things that bother you. Look at how well that worked earlier in this thread, before you came back at SS over a month after he made that comment. I bet he forgot he even said anything prior to you bumping this.

When I said I wished people would think about what they're saying before they post, I was referring to his/her comments not yours. Yes - I most definitely took the original post as an insult. Maybe I misunderstood the intent, but it sure seemed like a dis to me. We both know the score here, things change out there from day to day even hour to hour. How you deal with what you are presented with on the day you are there is all that matters. Sure I saw the little blue Jeep driving around, but a security guard driving around the building is not what I would consider tight security. That's basically the same as no security at all in my book.

The second day I was there I bumped into two kids from New York in there. They parked their big SUV's right on the road beside the building where the pool is. They spent about two hours inside with Security Dan driving by their cars the entire time and apparently thinking nothing of it.

Outsider looking in here: if you took SS' original comment as an insult, you should probably voluntarily close up shop on your UER account before you inevitably get angry at yet another completely benign, normal reply to a thread like this. Someone saying "you would have got busted at that place" =/= "you're an idiot who can't avoid security" and reading it that way is for sure patently stupid.

Comments like SS made are commonplace on UER. You've been here for at least a year, maybe you shouldn't fault the community for expecting you to have read a few threads over the course of that time. Christ, he was just trying to give you a heads up.
