Looking for sites on Google Earth I ran across a building that I couldnt identify in an out of the way town . Sitting at the intersection of two county roads, Google hadn't made it by there in 8 years with their street view car, so I decided to find out what I had seen. When I arrived, I was disappointed. 1.
This place was nothing more than an old country building used by farmers, probably to sell their crops. It was clearly an active site so I called out but didnt get an answer. I figured at this point I would check the place out, maybe get some "artsy" photos and head to Midland. The front door was unlocked:

Walking into an active site without permission always makes me nervous. The fact that this was Texas and in the country, I was on high alert for any noise. Even so, there was just something creepy about this place that I really couldnt put my finger on. Inside were pretty mundane things you find in abandonments ( I took more pics, but these are just to give you an idea of the space):

While inside, I saw this door which literally made me say aloud, "WTF is that?"

Ok, creepy and weird but you see strange things in places all the time. I headed back out and made my way along the left side of the building when I came across a refrigerator. It was a bit odd to have a random fridge sitting outside but it got stranger. There was an electrical cord running to it and the top freezer was cracked open. I opened the freezer the rest of the way and saw this: 6.
The smell nearly knocked me on my ass. I gagged as the odor of rotting flesh hit my nose like a Mack Truck doing 100. I turned around, bent over, got some fresh air and finally regained my composure. I snapped a picture and quickly opened the fridge: 7.
More stench and more unidentified meat. The fridge was running and sitting outside. It all hit me at once. The creepy feeling, the strange door and now this. With my imagination running faster than my legs, I grabbed my gear and got the hell out of there. I have no idea what was in that locked room or what kind of meat that was in the fridge, but I knew one thing - I sure as shit didnt want to find out!

Mmmm, not like some rot tenderized venison. The vultures will be so happy if you share your find with them... nothing worse than fridge rotted meat. Good you didn't meet the owners...
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. | |
