Photographs from the first few drains I've ever done. I've done abandonments before, but after moving to San Diego I've done a lot more drains. They're not huge (like I've heard they are in LA) or so interesting, but they are interesting to photograph. Looking at them together I realise how colourful - relative to the drains themselves - these are. Any ideas/criticisms about editing style or otherwise technical stuff? Going to explore some mines this weekend. We'll see what photos emerge.

I like all of them except the last two ones which are both too dark or not dramatic enough. Also the center of #3 is overexposed, it would be nice if you could prevent it. Otherwise this is great, keep it up!

Number 5 is so trippy when you're scrolling.

Honestly, some of the best shots I have seen on this forum. You've got mad skills brah!

Hey! I know you! My only beef with these photos is that you've got a bit of grain in a lot of them. Personally, I'd probably lower the ISO on ones like smoke and more smoke. If you could get brighter lights that would help. Otherwise you could try playing with the shutter speed and seeing just how low you can go before your model can't stand still that long. Could also try a lower aperture, it's a sacrifice in depth of field but everything is give and take. Really great to see some of your work though. I absolutely love 'self'. I went through your flickr and you've got some really beautiful stuff. I look forward to following your flickr and seeing more of your work, particularly the stuff from last weekend!

It's impressive for ISO 16,000. http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=120744 The smoke and water wouldn't hold the same appearance if it was slowed down to 1/2 a sec.

Freaking love it! Been a long time since I've seen such awesome drain photos. Drains are such cool places to experiment with light. The high ISO noise doesn't bother me that much in this case. I think the last one is my favourite, it's mysterious and the fact that it's off-center makes it even more interesting.

Hello! Thanks so much for the critique. Yeah, I got lazy and instead of using a tripod just pushed my ISO up... it's bad habit honestly, and it's good to be reminded of it. I'll experiment with brighter flashlights and lower aperture and hopefully I should see some improvements. I'm really looking forward to seeing your photos from the weekend too! It was great exploring with you!

Thank you so much! I just checked out some of your posts and your photos on flickr and all I can say is WOW, they're amazing - both in terms of location and the photos themselves.

I was thinking the same thing and that I wouldn't have ever thought about off center shooting the tube (being all neat and tidy). But the lead out into black is perfect. Well done.
