I ran across this place a while back. It's an abandoned ranch in N TX. It's a decent size property with some gorgeous virgin timber. You can see it from the highway, but not well.
Based on the decor, it was abandoned some time in the 80s. It's in really bad shape. The floors in most of the main house are flat dangerous. I went through up to my crotch twice. The only stable part was the main room. The others buildings were unstable, but not nearly to the same degree.
Getting to the place was simple but, took quite a bit of walking. The property consists of 3 sets of buildings. First set is an office, a barn, and another structure that is completely collapsed. The barn is just rafters and posts at this point with an old chicken coop near it. The office is cinder block and was gutted by a fire at some point. Probably the same one that destroyed the other building.
The second set of buildings is two hay barns. Both have been empty a long time. The hay is rotting and there isn't anything in them but a little debris and an owl in the larger of the two.
The third set is the main ranch house and a stable. The house has been severely damaged by weather. The side rooms all have rotten floors that are pretty bad. Vandals have clearly been trashing it and thieves have stripped the copper. The windows were all knocked out from the inside at some point. The stairs are stable, but I wouldn't try it. Not as bad as the rest of the floors were. The roof of the stable was shot. It had what looked like rooms for tack, feed, and washing.
Overall, not a super exciting find but, definitely worth stopping, since I was close. It has apparently been purchased as future retail space. So, it probably won't be around too much longer. Here is a flickr album for it. I didn't feel like posting a lot of pics.

I loved the toilet sitting in the field. My 1st thought was, "Redneck outhouse". There were some large timber support beams running in the main house(?) with the fireplace that look like they could be salvaged and put to some good use. Interesting place - good job.

Those beams could definitely be salvaged. They're about 30ft x 16in hand cut cedar. You'd need some stout equipment to do it. They're built into the structure as support for the ceiling over that main room. The room was too big to do it any other way without load bearing walls or columns. They probably weigh close to a ton each, even at that age. Being exposed to moisture hasn't cut down on the weight, either.
That's the first time I've run into that many buildings on farm land. I was pretty surprised. I did some more digging and it was a pure bred angus operation for a while. There are some other slabs and such out there for creep feeders, pens, a well house, etc. All gone now.

Nice set of photos! I checked this place out last summer, kind of a miserable explore with all the grass up to my neck, but definitely one I was happy to check off the list. I need to go through and see if I can find those photos again, kind of forgot about this location. Thanks for sharing

Yeah, I kind of lucked out. I went about a month after they cut hay. So, it was almost as nice as walking over a lawn. It's definitely easy in and out.
