On a recent exploring trip, this well-known hospital was high on my to-do list; briefly seeing the complex on the way to visit family is largely what sparked my childhood interest in abandoned places, and I was excited for the chance to thoroughly explore it for myself. Considering how much traffic it gets, I expected the main attractions to largely be tagged stripped to the bone, and for the most part, they were. The sheer size of the campus, though, made up for it in my book. As much ground as myself and my exploring partner covered, it felt like the sprawling tunnels and hallways and day rooms would stretch forever. Hanging out here was absolutely many hours well spent.
Unfortunately none of my film shots from the trip came out, but I got plenty of digital ones. Hope you enjoy!

Despite being extremely tagged up, it looks like it's in very good condition structurally from what I can tell. You can see the aging on the windows walls and ceilings with the chipping paint and such, but aside from that hole in the roof in picture 1 it looks good. If it was abandoned in your childhood I assume it's been abandoned a while. Is it really in as good structural condition as it looks? Were there any unstable sections or auxillary buildings?

I recognize several of these shots from my visit there! I did not get to many good pictures, we got there late and were in a bit of a hurry. We only had time to explore the power building and building 93. I see random sections of the second floor of the power building are still moved/missing lol. The attic looks familiar! Being out on that little balcony by the attic looking out at the buildings as the sun was going down was my highlight of the trip. I did not get to go in any other buildings, or the tunnels, so a return trip is certainly in my future.

Such a fun place to explore (especially at night), the ground are enormous, but some of the buildings can become repetitive. It's upsetting how much destruction this place eats on a regular basis. I remember when that TV set was in one piece

The complex was abandoned in '96, though parts were apparently shut down before then. A lot of the structures demolished in recent years were falling apart, but from what I could tell, the buildings that I photographed were in decent shape structurally. despite plenty of water damage.

This place really is like a big playground at this point. That's definitely unfortunate in some ways (it always sucks to see a place so picked-through and destroyed), but at least it makes for an interesting atmosphere. Casually running into as many people as we did here made the experience relaxing and fun.

We went in the power building near 93 first. Then rushed up the 13 stories to get to the top of building 93 before the sun went down. In my rush to get to the top I didn't pay much attention to where we were going. On the way down I realized I did not know the way back top out POE. Which was pretty much the only POE, everything was sealed pretty well. I eventually found my way, but it was a bit nerve racking for awhile.

I see how that could happen. It would become even trickier when we ended up in the Quads nearby at night. 4 interconnecting buildings that all look the same

not trying to hyjack the post but I've been there a few times, someone hit me up for a sunday out... the only buildings that show real signs of potential failure are 121 & 122 i believe the walkway around the back side (far side of 7) had its roof crushed in some time back.
One of the buildings they were using for records was torched not too long ago so there is definitely fire damage &water damage to both floors
asides from that, most of them are structurally sound & a few that were well boarded up are actually in really good condition
