I visited this location with a friend back in March. Like every dumb tourist, I saw amazing sites, but didn't fully grasp the significance of them. Judging from the location/artifacts, I'd guess that this was a train manufacturing plant during World War II (again, just a guess). I'm under the impression that this is a well known spot to locals, so I'm sure it has been posted/written about somewhere in the archive. The location was easy to find and enter, and I did not see any security during the hour or so I was there. However, it is in close proximity to a Deutsche Bahn maintenance facility, so I'd imagine that there is security that comes around on some periodic basis. Leipzig is a super awesome city with tons of abandonments. I wish I could have stayed longer to check them out.
