Another Critique of my Favorites

Sorry for some of the pictures that I've posted in other threads, don't know if that upsets people or not.

I like to keep coming back to this section every now and then to get critiques and advice on my latest pictures that I enjoy a lot to see where I can improve (can never stop improving).

I shot these pictures with a Canon Rebel T5, a 18-55mm kit lens, and a 50mm f1.8. Sadly I don't remember which pictures where taken with it. But I'm gonna try. If you click the pictures, they link to flickr which tells you what camera settings I shot on.

1) 18-55mm

I feel like if this picture was a little underexposed, and maybe at a different time of day it could've looked better.

2)18-55mm

3)18-55mm

4)18-55mm

5)50mm f1.8

I think this one I had the aperture a little too low because only the very closest leaves are in focus. Though personally I love the bokeh touch.

6)50mm (I think)

The last one is okay, maybe.

Great job! I think 1, 5, and 6 are my favourites. You've got some abnormal but very interesting composition going on, and I particularly like the colour in the last two.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks! That's actually helpful. These do have an odd composition compared to my other pictures.

Personal favorites would have to be #2 & #6. They're well-lit, composition is good, and I'm a sucker for varied texture.

The high-contrast texture of the rock in #4 is awesome, however that tree to the right and whatever the heck else pulls away from that. My default method of fixing that is simply to crop it out - just holding my hand over that right 1/4 of the image gives me a much more dramatic composition. Aside from that, I struggle with exposure when dealing with varying levels of light, and for this shot I feel like you chose very well.

#1 is probably the one I struggle most with, though. It's very busy, and with the amount of line crammed into this shot, my eyes are drawn in so many directions simultaneously I'm not really sure there's any specific focal point you're going for?

All in all though, pretty good stuff!
