Drains Compliation

As anyone who's taken pictures in drains knows, they're not very photogenic. one picture of a concrete tunnel fading into darkness is more or less interchangeable with any other. to combat this, I compiled the most interesting shots from several different drains.

1.

2. does anyone know what this gunk is? it was forming under an smaller pipe that flowed into this one.

3.

4.

5. Most of this stuff looks like it's been around a while, i think the lack of fresh paint is related to the rise of screen-based entertainment.

6.

7.

Thanks for looking!

No idea what that gunk is, I've always refered to it as "drain slime" myself, oh and nice pics

Thanks, someone told me it might be some kind of moss or algae, but i thought it looked like some kind of sediment build-up. who knows?

Nice pics... The "gunk" is a mix of runoff sediment deposits consisting of iron oxide, nitrates, and chud cum.

that gunk is usually made mostly of calcium in the running water, it creates what some call flow-stone, the ones with red like this do contain iron, sometimes from natural deposits sometimes from rusting rebar in the concrete

think stalactites and stalagmites only faster
