A good morning in Vancouver
< on 7/16/2015 5:06 AM >
Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
A second video has surfaced out of Vancouver of a couple guys exploring a certain construction site downtown with awesome views. Anyone else seen it? I won't post it since it shows a POE but its starting to go viral like the first one so it shouldn't be too hard to find if you keep up on social media and the local news.

Saw the video on CBC this morning. Ballsy. Sich incredible views from that building. Kudos to those climbers, but anonymity may be your ally.

On one hand, I'm jealous, and really like the view. On the other hand, this just means attention to/beefed up security on the site. Damn shame.

Guessing they did this on a Sunday morning, or maybe back during Canada day? Can't imagine any other way to get around the whole "construction crew showing up" factor.

I checked out the site in June when I was in town and the only security I saw was some Indian guy sitting in a minivan at the back of the site.

What are the beefed up measures?

I just read another article with this quote "According to the video's description, the pair scaled the building to see the sun rise on the summer solstice."

Was just assuming they'd be beefing up security, no idea if they will (or have). Though when I checked it out back at the end of June, saw that Indian dude in the car you were talking about, and another guy in the compound itself. The latter might've been a one-time thing though.

But hey, next time you're in town, if you wanna try for it, lemme know! This place's been on my list for a while...

Edit: We went (and failed to get in) on June 21st. Which was the solstice. Which would've been when these kids went in. Wellllll dammit.

I chose not to include the video out of respect for the "DO NOT reveal entry details in your video" rule on the forum.

This is not actually a rule. It is a common unwritten guideline among certain circles here, and may be advisable to follow in many cases, but there is no rule against revealing locations. Just so you know.

(There is, however, a rule against revealing specifics of your entry-point to a location)

That video gave me clammy hands. They certainly could have died. Were I planning to walk to the end of a crane that high and dangle by two points of contact I'd have a fall harness.

A shot in the dark. Uncharted turf. A venture beyond an ordinary stroll. A ladder begins. Pursuit compulsory, it's followed to its end. Wait a minute, why am I waxing poetic when my audience consists of idiots clamouring for the success of fame-mongering attention whores?

Fuck these guys. AU/MC did it first, AU/MC did it better, and most importantly, AU/MC did it with tact. It's fucking beautiful up there, and it's a great space to escape the demons in your head. One that should be accessible to anyone willing to go. I watched the video unimpressed, half-heartedly wishing for at least one of the wankers to fucking fall off.

In a way, conquering this site was a monument to a fallen brother. Somehow, to us it meant that his memory could never be destroyed. That holds significance to me, and I don't appreciate a pair of dickheads pissing over something I consider sacrosanct.

You burned it, assholes. Now no one else can enjoy it, you self-enamoured pricks. At least wait until the crane's gone before publishing that shit.

Clearly, a penchant for linguistics isn't your calling. Let this not be interpreted as a personal attack, but more so as a jibe in jest.
We've been going there for 3+ years without burning it.
