Deconstructed Bungalow

In The Heights.

On the street behind me.

The Heights, before it's current McMansionization, always had one beat up house on each block, regardless of how nice the rest of the block was.

This one was bought, McMansion coming, but the builder did not get the permits so the demolition was stopped. He'd also hired a crew of illegals who were doing a crappy job and throwing stuff in neighbors yards, which I am sure prompted the calls to the permit center.

I went into the house a few days earlier, these wires were live then, but in the interim at least he disconnected the power.

Just for the hell of it, here is a Virgin Mary statue made out of beer cans.

She lives in the Old Sixth Ward.

So I really like this post. Your enthusiasm is amazing. BUT, can I suggest posting them all in one post next time? It makes it much easier to read, and comment on.

I can do that, maybe I'll walk over tomorrow and take pics of the halfway done McMansion that is going up. Went over there the other day but did not have my phone with me. It is amazing, or sickening, how much house they'll try and cram on a 5,000 SF lot now. Hopefully it has some Minty Green tiles in a more modern fashion.

IRL I am a real charmer, thanks for the welcome, I guess.

There were a ton o' safety violations on that one job, some quite serious and endangering not only the workers, but the neighboring homes as well. Live bare wires still electrified, backhoe hitting gas line, workers exposed to hazardous materials with no protective or safety gear, etc., etc. Owners who hire illegal labor often cut corners on safety, just tired of seeing it all over town.
