Hey all! Over the past few weeks, finally been getting into the swing of rooftopping again. Been going about things solo so far, but wouldn't mind a bud or two to join in! If there's one difference between Vancouver and every other place I've done rooftopping (mostly Toronto and Chicago, and recently Seattle), it's that Vancouver really likes its security...oh well. Anyway, here's some stills from timelapses I shot around downtown a little over a week ago.

Nice work Kyle! Taking the time to do a timelapse during an explore is certainly a gamble on ~active sites! I'd like to see them in video(?) form should you have the means. ;) Keep looking up! Hopefully you find some YVR friends, too.

Thanks man! Hopefully I'll have a nice video closer to the end of the year, still gathering footage and want some nice fall/winter stuff in there too.

I'd be happy to join you some day. Glad to hear Vancouver rooftops are more secure than elsewhere. My success rate with them isn't so great, but I just keep trying.

Great shots! Looking forward to more of your work. ::

I entered an office building downtown on a weekday, late afternoon, rode the elevator to the top floor, took the stairwell another floor up, and pulled open the locked door -- only a slight tug was necessary to pull the latch past the electric strike. An alarm sounded, not very loud, while I passed through the door and entered a big penthouse machine room. I went out through another door onto an L-shaped rooftop at one corner, and took a couple of pictures of the view.
I went back inside in search of other rooftops or interesting sites, and just as I was approaching what appeared to be the service elevator, a guy came out of it. Of course I assumed it was security come to get me, so I immediately started explaining, in my dumb innocent voice, how, looking for a rooftop patio I thought I'd heard about, I'd found this door open, and maybe they should look into it? The guy had no idea what I was talking about, and it soon became clear that he was actually a building engineer, who had naturally assumed I worked in the building, and would probably have walked by me with a nod. It took a while to get him to understand that I was trespassing, and that I was trying to help him and building management prevent people like me trespassing in future. Oy. I should have kept my smiling mouth shut.

Oy. I should have kept my smiling mouth shut.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and... Out yourself to the people who work in the building! Close call, but at least you got some nice views out of it!

Maybe time to update this thing. Been slacking on in-city explores in favour of out-of-city ones, and now that it's rain season who knows how much I'll be doing. But here's some old(ish) shots.
