UEA - Calgary

Hi folks!

Explorer and photographer here in Calgary, AB.

Anymouse has informed me there's a few problems keeping forum.uea.ca up and running - just back end server stuff. For now, I've holed up here and am happy to be reading all of your posts!

Hopefully this can serve as a little organization and sharing space for all of the folks in Calgary and area that have been orphaned as explorers by the down time of UEA.

I've attached a couple pics from some of the explores I've done. I've since done a lot of training in sport climbing and industrial fall protection / rope access, acquiring some of the gear that goes with it. I could run an explore a little beyond runners and a ball cap, if you know what I mean.

Looking forward to meeting some of you!

Bump. I'm open to meeting new explorers, sharing some locations, etc. The UER DB is practically empty around Calgary.

In the YYC area? Say hello!

I don't think there's anybody currently active in Calgary, this province tends to be quite scarce in exploration. Anything abandoned for more than a year gets demolished. You need a keen eye and don't miss any opportunity to explore because it will be turning into condos by the time the sun comes back up.

There are some YYCers here, but it's hard to stay active.

Even in a downturn, everything is demolished quickly or locked up airtight.

Well YYC doesn't stay active if the explorers here don't.

I'd like to go back to a location seen in my previously posted photos.

Consider this an open invitation to those in YYC looking to network, explore, and/or take a few photos while we're at it. After that I'll start looking for some new territory in this big city.

Tentative dates: July 1st - 4th, 2015.

@nicknolte, you in?

I wish we had that type of longevity here. It seems like here we often only have weeks from when something gets closed down till it's a hole in the ground.

Jester is referring to the Vancouver and its greater area. The real estate is stupid there but at least they try to save historic buildings unlike Alberta.

Sparro, I may be able to meet up on those dates, I should be back in Alberta by then. I'll keep in touch.

I'm fairly new to the yyc area, but far from new to urban exploration. I'd be down to meet up for some adventures some time.

Hello! I am living that YYC life for now, though I completely agree this city is the pits for exploring, you always need to drive out for at least half an hour to find the good sites!
Heres a picture of me at a gas station tho

It may be best for BreezeZ to message some locals personally and get out to explore that way - larger meets, specifically the one you're referring to, tend to be 18+. Sorry BreezeZ, looking forward to having you along in Spring 2018.

I'm running kinda tight on finances to drive down again. I'll most likely be absent.
