Almost as soon as I pulled up to this little gem, the owner pulled in behind me. He wasn't upset at my being there, but I promised him I wouldn't go inside. Otherwise, I totally would have light painted this bad ass house!

Guess what guys!!!? ......
chickenbutt

I personally like pictures with some blur and that are from a cheaper camera with no editing. monkeyhawks pictures look adventurous and exciting. Pictures that are all super clean and lit up are beginning to bore me nearly to death.

To each his own with style but I don't understand why you take the style of photos you loathe.

Wow! Great capture! If you don't mind sharing... how did you manage that?

Thank you.

Hike .25mi blindly through a corn field.
Climb inside silo.
Put camera on tripod and lay down on the nasty ground with the poop and bird bones.
Muse that at least the ground feels cool even though it's 115 out.
Realize that you're actually just laying in a growing puddle because your camelbak is leaking and you're soaked and getting muddy.
Wait a little longer for sun to be better.
Manual focus and shoot 3 bracketed shots.
Hike out.
Use regular exposure with a small percentage of the brighter exposure. Add in an HDR layer of 10% just to bump the contrast but still look natural.
Post.

Edit... Aw crap you meant the lightning shots. That makes more sense.
Be prepared to leave the house at moment's notice with charged batts, tripod and bug spray.
Stare at the radar with a lightning tracker included all day for way too long.
For mobile app I recommend: https://play.googl...y.radarscope&hl=en
On a whim, grab your stuff and head out to one of the many locations you have prescouted.
Brace yourself and camera against the wind.
Hold your umbrella over the camera to protect the lens from the rain drops and to coax the lightning closer.
Miss some shots figuring out the settings.
On manual, start around 20sec exposure with no more than 200 iso and whatever aperture your lens feels sharp at. Then adjust dependent upon brightness of location and closeness of strikes. Use the bulb setting if you want more control.

I liked this photo.
I appreciate the discomfort you went through to get it.

Can you go back please? What does it look like when the sun is lower and shining through the openings on the side of the silo and projecting across?
