The stories surrounding this house are truly sad. The statement *You never know what goes on behind closed doors* could not be more true where this 2 Story Estate of horror is concerned. After reading crime reports of child abuse and animal cruelty i was reluctant to post it. But, i recently saw where hferg had posted some pics and was asking for the history. Here ya go! Its not pretty. Take a Deep Breath, This is going to take a while.

1.

2.Looks Nice Enough

3.

7.

8. Note all the Bird seed containers......Bird poop was at least 4 inches thick in parts of this room and was closed off so the smell wouldnt overcome you. It was horrible. Burned your eyes!

9.

10.This Room was A MESS! Someone typed a letter after killing the cats!

11.

12.Frig Full of Roach Poo and Maggots

22. Cant EVEN imagine living like this in a 2 Story home

23.

24.

25. SIGNs Everywhere!

26.Microwaves and small refrigerators in every room. Strange. Did they rent out rooms? Who stayed in this filth?

27. This is NOT Rust! Dead cats in this room! Disgusting and Sad.

So sad about the kitties...I wonder if the original person died and no one came back for the kitties. No way out to find food and starved to death. Nice find, lady!

The cats were being fed. They were not thin at all. Cat food cans and plates everywhere. I was told by the neighbors that the son was crazy... The one that wrote on the walls and wanted to be in law enforcement... REALLY?!! He killed the cats then killed himself. But never saw his obit anywhere. Hmmm! That means he's still out there....

I know! Its all crazy. Who knows what REALLY took place here and why. Im just going on what the neighbors had to say, the reports online, and what i personally saw. Maybe i shouldn't of posted this mess. That cat in the photo still disturbs me. If someone would like to take this thread away, thats fine with me.

Just...wow. Well, for starters, I'm glad you weren't deterred by the panther warning, as that was clearly a ruse.

The angst-ridden note penned by an unknown teenager (in hferg's flickr album; linked to the "mold & spiders" post) brings a whole new level of sadness and desperation to this saga.

Speaking as an animal lover (and professional pet-sitter), in my experience, some animal fanatics out there are very much out of touch with reality and actually quite barbaric in their perception of tenderness towards animals.

Despite the dark subject matter, I thank you for sharing your experience

This is even worse than I had imagined.. My work schedule has been beyond crazy, so I had to pause some of my research but I pulled some very weird things up online.. I won't post because it has names of the family that are still alive.. I will say this the address still shows as a business for a lien company that apparently ran out of the house.. And was still in business not too many years ago.. Strang right?? And a name of a prominent business man in the city is also linked to this home.. And I did see where the county was called for animal cruelty charges.. Thank you so much, I think I became a little obsessed with this place.. I still want to go get some pictures with my good camera.. There are massive piles of what I assume to be personal belongings in the yard.. This is just crazy.. It's Ming boggling that a presumably wealthy family, and what had to once be a beautiful home can end up like this.. Guess it goes to show you that money isn't everything.. I want to add after reading the comments that if the family names I pulled up are correct that the son is in fact alive and lives in this area still.. Whom I believe is the father passed away in 04 and the mother is still alive.. The house was posted for sale by owner in'13 for 155,000.. It looks like it sold for 170,000 in '14 and was foreclosed again several months later.. However it could have been the original owners that it was foreclosed on.. It's all very strange.. Houses like this aren't left in this condition very often in this area..

This is quite disturbing. The cats obviously are a big part of it, but honestly, to me this looks like signs of squatters. All those beds on the ground, trash bags with cans of food and such. Their may have been a tragic story tagged with this house, but I feel like some of this might be 'post owners.' And I obviously couldn't tell from the photos, but did their seem to be any sort of sign that there was recent (within the last 6 months) activity there? I'm no expert, but I've seen a lot of homeless squatting spots and communes, and to me, this screams that. I could be wrong, just my take on all of this!

Also, photo 24 almost looks like a scene from back in time when the house was new and unscathed. It's almost a feeling of false nostalgia. Great job Misunderstood!

I'm pretty familiar with the location, I actually live close to it.. I think squatters are possible, but considering where this place is I just don't think that is what it was.. Miss would know better tho, by the time I went in everything was cleared out and empty.. But the mold was so so so bad it almost looked like it had flooded at one point.. It even looked like there was a water line in some rooms.. I'll say this, after hearing about the animals I understand why it smelled so horrific..

hferg! So glad you finally was able to catch up with the posting to see the house before it was cleaned out.

Thank You All for your comments : Tiffers, Attic, Ripp, And Sunwolf

Hferg and all who have contributed to this thread. There was a family who lived here. The husband was well off but died first, leaving a mother, son, GF, and daughter. The mother did in fact run a Lien Co. out of the house. Sometime during those years the mom, son, GF , and daughter, lived in the house with 20plus cats and 10 or so birds. Even tho, you can see many vacuums cleaners in every room, no one every used them. The cats took over, pooped everywhere and it seemed that no one cared. Maybe they were doped out of there minds, IDK, The son was sited for child endangerment...evidently at times leaving the child of under 5 years of age in an upstairs bedroom alone with the cats. The state came in and removed the child. The Son and GF disappeared and left mom there who was evidently disabled. The house got worse and worse. Why she couldn't of paid for maids i don't know, but, maybe the son took all her money, as reports from people that knew them say he was living in California. And finally, after many calls by neighbors and maybe even people that used her in business who came by and was horrified, she was removed by the state as well. Living in very unclean, unsanitary conditions. I do believe that even though the neighbors claim that the son committed suicide, and a hand painted sign on the fence shouts HORRay! ____ is dead. I think he is still alive. Just lives under the radar. The house did get cleaned out after several years and put on the market, but never sold. Its too full of rot, mold and horror stories for anyone to want it. Riff could be right about squatters living there for a time or maybe the old lady rented out rooms for money for a time. IDK. The house has a big generator out back that could run parts, if not the whole home. But, now, everything sits broken and damaged. What a sad place and evidently a very sad, dysfunctional family once lived here.
