I just got a P-100 mask in the mail, and was wondering if it's a good idea to leave the filters attached, or if they should only be put on just before exploring.

I don't think it'll hurt anything to just leave them on. At least, I've never heard anything about that. You could check the manual if you're worried about it.

The manual doesn't seem to say anything about storing with the filters on, so I'm sure it's fine, just wanted to be certain. Thanks for the quick answer.

not a problem to leave P100 cartridges on the mask for extended periods of times. Organic Vapor cartridges however will slowly degrade over time from exposure to oxygen and should be removed after use and stored in a ziplock bag. Of course there's still air inside of a ziplock, and it wont make them last forever, but I do believe it will help to at least extend their useful lifespan. P100 cartridges are good until they're so clogged with dust that it becomes difficult to breath. Never actually worn one out before, but usually try to replace them once a year or so with sporadic use. Another reason I love 3M P100 cartridges (specifically the 2097 ones) is you can take them off and clearly see the internals. I have some 2097 cartridges at work that are filthy black and look like they're toast from the outside, but the insides are perfectly clean white, as good as the day they came out of the package.
