Mile of Memories Mansion by jerm IX, on Flickr Uhhh, so I found and explored an abandoned mansion today. It has 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 4 kitchens, an organ, a vault and an elevator. Aside from the vandalism, the house is in great condition and it is unfathomable how this gorgeous home and property is abandoned... http://jermalism.b...e-of-memories.html

Fantastic location. And kudos for, "I'd love to share with you the fascinating history of the former occupants of this home but cannot do so without revealing it's location; a risk I'm not willing to take." There'd be an endless parade otherwise. Some really great places being found recently in this beautiful province of ours.

Jaw-dropping! That first pic - I can smell the wood. I had to chuckle at that first portrait of the guy in the fur jacket. For some bizarre reason, I imagine that as John Peterman from Seinfeld on his hunting expedition. Neat how you included those closing shots giving an indication of the seclusion.

Great pics. After looking at them carefully I realized that this place is just minutes from my family cottage. The house always had an element of mystery while I was growing up and nobody seemed to know much about it. You'd never see any kind of activity around the boathouse even in the middle of summer, and the house was so secluded I'd only ever been able to get a glance of it through the trees during winter. As far as I know this place is/was owned by the developer who was trying to build a golf course/resort in the area adjacent to the property a few years ago. He made a lot of enemies really quick when he decided to dump industrial waste on the land and ended up being bogged up in court for a long time with charges from the Ministry. In addition, one of our neighbours bought up strategic plots of land that basically put an end to his large-scale development plans. As far as I know any construction in the area is shut down for now. They did do a lot of renovations on the boathouse some 10 years ago so maybe there is some hope for this place. It would be nice to see it sold to someone who wants to restore the house and not just knock it down and put up a country club. Thanks for posting this, I've been curious about this place most of my life and it's awesome to finally see what's down that long driveway.
