You definitely feel like a tiny mouse trying to get from one wall to another in this place. NOWHERE to quickly hide either, LOL

Hey. Sorry, I can answer later in detail, since I am in NYC doing the UE thing. Every floor had pipe parts clipped and sitting on the floor. However, this was not the work of scrappers, but people doing renovation.

Gorgeous building with the elaborate brick facades. Got any history of it you care to share?

Not too much, without giving away the name(s)
But it was a textile/ cotton mill, one of the largest in the U.S. for many years. Originally the mill was powered directly from waterwheels (off the dam installed). Later on, this mill could also supply electricity to the neighboring towns.

I believe there is a water turbine running now, because there was a room down low by the falls making hella noise, which I promptly steered away from. I could have walked right down there, but wasn't sure if I'd bump into someone.

Thanks, Zod. We used to have a vaguely similar sewing machine plant here in Quebec. It was nice, but nowhere near as impressive as your mill. I'm a huge fan of the north-east style of red brick architecture and I find this mill outstandingly attractive. Thanks for sharing this find with us. Here's hoping she finds a long and happy second life some day soon.

no prob.

And actually, to put things in clearer perspective, the wide angle shot I titled 'one point perspective' is only facing half of one side of the interior (from the center of the building). It's not possible to shoot the entire interior, lol.

Scale-wise, also consider that this is the production building, and it does not include the other wings, or office buildings (not explorable, due to being occupied) There is one historical photo of the street-side that I found (shown below), and if you look close you can see the same angle of the mill from my exterior photograph in the far background. But yes, in the foreground we see the admin buildings, still present and re-used for different purposes mostly unrelated to the mill, I think.

I'll have to check out that sewing mill later on. Thanks for that!
