Today while travelling up through VA heading towards my final destination for the week in Maryland i decided to take the time to pay a visit to ruins of a childrens hospital that was built at the recommendation of the infamous eugenics doctor Joseph Dejarnette. nothing of its former glory im sure but worth the stop. Some pics below and the full album is here.. http://s738.photob...Childrens%20Asylum

interesting that it was accessible. I hear they keep locking it up fairly tight. that, and it's not worth it since it's pitch black, but it still has my interest.

Some of my favorite locations have no natural light. There are plenty of ways to get good photographs in pitch black locations.

This is pretty much the only reason I haven't made a day trip out there. Also if I remember correctly you have to cross a huge field right next to a highway to get there

I am also surprised this was accessible. I've also heard rumors of a snake infestation in this building... Did you see any evidence of that? Those rumors might just be made up. I've definitely been in some amazing, thoroughly worth it buildings that were completely boarded up and pitch black inside. I've also seen some incredible photography done in these types of places.
