Me and a friend want to plan a day to see some sights in the DFW area. I didn't know if anyone on here would be willing to show us a few spots? Maybe somewhere that doesn't resemble an abandoned factory in a cow pasture? We have enough of those out in our neck of the woods. I would gladly drive or cover gas and lunch.

When do you guys plan on coming out here?

I'm not from dfw but I recently passed through there and I highly recommend the Kidds Springs underground creek/drain. It's has a beautiful waterfall at the outfall and has a really unique natural rock floor in the beginning of the drain. It's in the UE database.

It'll depend on our weather... I don't know when you're coming this way, but we have been hammered with storms, and they don't appear to be letting up any time soon! Most of this entire area is under flood warnings and some areas as close as Denton are initiating helicopter rescues. Not exactly the best draining scenario... :/

Yeah we got hit hard last night here in Athens. Someone actually died about 200 yards from my house when they wrecked their motorcycle at 4AM. We don't have a set date but draining was definitely on the want-to-do list so we might be waiting for a bit. Thanks for the suggestion on Kidds springs. How many dry days would we need for a good draining experience?

Oh also thank you all for the replies. I hate to tag along as a noobie but after you get to know I promise I'm a good resource to have lol.

Honestly, the drains are so good, I would say like one, two at the most.

Still unsure on the dates for dallas. I promised my friend we would go to Crockett first to Mary Allen's (inside Data base). I guess their about to memorialize it in some way and have events coming up.

Among the most over engineered drains is Uptown Underground. I have been in it while it was (lightly) raining. I don't know of another I would as that much.

I think you and I went in just after a fucking downpour, iirc.

It had been raining several days and the ground was saturated. TexasMike had scouted it and said it was fine. I doubted him and was expecting to have to call it off. He was right; there was no more water than normal.

I'm down for whatever. If someone would make an official event page for this so that we could get things properly organized, that would be cool.

Yes, my curiosity has been piqued by Astro (I still can't get that freaking "keyhole" photo out of my head) and Robert. I know nothing of drains, but would love to tag along and happily spread the local love above ground if y'all are interested.
