It's a good idea, but i've never had any issues getting past fences (minus razor wire), so i wouldn't bother with the extra weight.

I wouldn't carry this ever because I don't have any issues simply climbing over the fence.

It's that top edge of the fence that sucks so, better to have something that compensates for that. I can see how a step like this would be good if you really need one, without a "ten fingers".

I usually try to pack as lightly as possible. It's definitely a cool little invention, especially for photography, but for exploring I feel like it would be more of a burden than anything.

If I was a photographer at events with fences, yes. If I was exploring, no, it would be faster to throw myself over the fence than setting that up and climbing over and taking it off.

Nope, if I need recon pictures the fence can be on it as I wouldn't care. And when I go there I will be behind the fence when taking pictures.

For recon, maybe. But aside from weight I can see a lot of logistics problems with it that make it more hassle than it's worth. For starters, getting it over the fence after you've crossed; you could leave it, but that's hell of a footprint for security to find and there's the issue of getting back over the fence once you're done. Though I can see using something like this as loopholes though - a loop of rope on a carabiner - if you ever needed a solid foot/handhold for whatever reason (fiddling with wire). Lightweight and you can pull it through after you.
If I put something witty here, maybe someone will love me. |

It's a nifty idea but like others have said I really wouldn't be needing it. I've never had a fence that I couldn't just climb. Hell even razor wire isn't that bad if you know how to tackle it. And the majority of the time it's simpler to go under or through a hole someone has made.

I wonder if something like this could come back to bite you, depending on the explore. The excuse of "I saw it and wanted pictures" works sometimes, if you're wandering around, but having specific tools to enter a more secure area may complicate things.

|
For explorations, no way. I'm going over, under or through a fence. However, like enirus said, this would be great for events.

Don't bring anything more then you have to, c'mon jump the fence

The backpacker in me shivers at the idea of carrying around anything more than absolutely necessary. Everything has its uses, but I think it would be easier to just try to scale the fence without it.
