Night time roads

I went out tonight and took some long exposure photos, theses two being my fav. I think they came out pretty good but carious if anyone seeing anything im not. Its not as sharp as I really like, and little bit of noise even tho there shot at like 100 iso. But I think that's due to my camera my D3100 feels little behind which hopefully soon I can upgrade. May have to retry these with a prime lens get little better results.

If you view it on the flickr page it shows all the details of the camera plus can zoom in.
Thank you

Excellent start! A couple things!

- Use Bulb mode and a shutter release, will help bring the background (the buildings) exposed a little better.
- Stop it down all the way, it'll make the light points flare nicely.
- Adjust your colour cast to loose that orange basis.

I think these are pretty sharp for being on the kit zoom lens. At f8 and f11, and 22mm/32mm, you are pretty much in the "sweet spot" for that lens.

You are right. A lens upgrade will help a lot, especially with a prime.

Don't blame your camera too much. Even the best sensors are going to exhibit -some- noise in low light, long exposures. Check your manual, some cameras have noise reduction for long exposures set up as a "custom function." Experiment with that. See if you can get better noise reduction out of your editing software.

Yep, these seem to be broken. If you want me to fix them, PM me the correct URLs for the images and I'll fix it for you.

EDIT: Fixed!
