Midewin/Joliet Arsenal Pic packed!

As an occasional poster in this forum, I still like to swing by and share some finds. Being a collector, I am very much into military themed attractions.
I have shared a post on various NIKE bases and a small chunk of Midewin that has long since been burred in the forum.
A quick back story...
Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is property that the Joliet Arsenal owned that was given to the USDA for US Forest use in 1993 closing the plant that started in 1940 supplying munitions for the wars in between. This is an exceptional area to explore due to the amount of property and the police that oversee the land. I was told to "Go over any fence, go through any hole in the fence". The restricted areas are clearly marked with new signage and new fence so it is hard to be trespassing here. From having made 926 million bombs, shells, mines, detonators, fuzes, boosters, and over 1 billion pounds of TNT to a dreadful explosion in 1944 and even to occurrences (coming form the police officer I ran into) of "weird green lights coming from bunkers at night that go away as soon as I approach" this place is full of history. I will let the pictures do the talking..

Story behind the rads...We were stranded here when it was pretty hot out, my buddy's shifter snapped off this jeep so waiting for another friend to tow us back home we had 5 hours to kill time. We were thirsty and the water here is contaminated by the chemicals used in making explosives. We FOUND the unopened bottle of water. Seemed fitting if you are a fallout fan.

cool stuff!

If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public!
If you want to make exploring friends, send people private messages! Meet up in real life! Get off the internet!
Don't try to have a UER e-penis! You won't impress anyone! This especially means you, Minneapolis MN newbies!

Very cool. Were most of the bunkers accessible? I like how this place seems to be free from graffiti. Great location and pictures.

Never been there but I've heard of it. This is definitely one of the better collections of photos I've seen from there. Nice set.

Being from the surrounding area and visiting it often, I can confirm this place is definitely as cool as it looks. Just use caution if you decide to go during hunting season...

One of the places on my list to explore! Awesome pictures! If you do end up getting a group together, I am totally interested in making the trip up there!

Forgot to add that I'm also interested in a group outing, as well. I tagged a few spots to check out on my Google Maps app, and downloaded the area for offline use since cell service is spotty at best out there, but the GPS works great. The weird thing is, I could show up with a full battery, not even use my phone the whole time I'm out walking around, since I know where I'm going now, and leave with a dead battery every time. Might have to try airplane mode or something. Thinking about bringing my bicycle next time, too, but it'd be hard to carry that on my motorcycle since I don't have a car anymore. Do any of you ride bikes? We could do a group ride, since all the cool shit's tucked deep in the heart of Midewin and it's a bit of a hike to get to most of it. The one building I really want to check out is the one shaped like a sideways E. Shoot me a PM if interested.
