My first visit.

Many of you will know this place. Last weekend, my friend and I drove up. We were able to get into the recreation center. It was that really foggy and rainy day, and no one was out. The security jeep sat by the main entrance to the place, and we didn't see any sign of him as we made our way to the POE.

I took pictures of whatever I could. This place has a really neat design, I have never explored a building with this kind of layout before. We did not know how to get inside the other buildings on the property, and we did not want to get caught in the process of looking, so we left. We would return, and we did. The very next day.

Meeting up with a few other guys, we once again made the trek to the rec center. From there we explored the massive 10 story building, followed by the 3 story building across the road from it. While in this 3 story building, one of the guys in the group peeks out the window to catch a glimpse of a state police trooper car sitting on the road, just near the entrance. Apparently 5 cars showed up (don't ask why, I didn't look out the window), and they had caught two kids walking outside. Once they left, we decided to call it a day.
I thought it was a neat place, and I am certainly going to go back soon!

Some pictures for your enjoyment

Lol that pool was pretty fun to slide across a few months back. The entire time we were standing on it I was petrified the ice was going to crack and we would be submerged in that foul mess.

That pool looks so tantalizing. I'm sure a lot of that snow has melted by now too.

A body was dumped at the annex campus down the road from this campus. It's not terribly far but it's sort of tucked away, and at a glance one might think it was an unrelated cluster of buildings. I don't think it will change much.

I took a trip here last year at night. Entry was easy, but its was real dark, so navigating around was pretty difficult. Ive heard security there is pretty tight, although I didnt have a problem. Nice set!

Yeah they are planning on knocking down most of the buildings, and saving the kirk- Apparently they have already cleared out the area around it and put fresh boards on the windows. My guess is they are saving the good parts and tearing down the fire damaged part.

I would be pretty sick if they clipped the male wing back to even it out with the female and saved all of that.

That Rec center is a high point on that site, you got some excellent shots.
Glad to hear an intrepid explorer can still get in there.

My high school?

I especially like your shots of the pool. Very nasty and foul in a good way! Never been here, but from your photos it looks like a neat place - except for the security patrols. Nice work!

It's too bad they plan to take down a lot of this. Incredible history, both from a medicine standpoint to an architectural one.

Just a warning, there was another fire here in the fire station/dept. which was completely destroyed. The firm who owns the grounds is now ordering a trespassing citation for anyone caught. So be careful.

It was behind the Kirk, across from the chapel I think. I've only been there once.
