Will be in Southern California the week of April 20, want to drive and shoot around Salton Sea. Any other recommendations on interesting ruins? Anyone up for an outing or two?

Up in the BLM land near Joshua Tree there are dozens of mines and some ghost towns. Slab City is a must if you want to see some 'interesting' folk too.

I'm going back to Coachella in April, was going to ask the same thing about the Salton Sea.

If you're down for some hiking, there's a great location near the north side of the sea. Narrow slot canyons carved by water, very cool. I go there pretty often.

The BLM land mines are a good spot.

Slab City really isn't ruins. I mean, yes, technically it is, but it's now a community. Of probably some of the best people, the kind of people we can all strive to be like. Just make sure if you go there, that you're there to appreciate and not gawk. And don't stay too long.
