The Smith's House

I posted this with shitty photos, now have some photos I took a little more time on, to get the things that were...in the dark.

This is a true story, other than names being changed to protect this house. (Especially while it's on the market.)
There was a couple we'll call them Adam and Eve. We'll say their last name is Smith. Adam and Eve had two kids. We'll call them Abraham and Adam Jr.

Anyways, Abraham had a daughter named Rebecca and then Abraham went and blew his brains out on an overpass. So he's out of the equation.

Adam Jr. has two kids. Kane and Abel. Adam Jr. and the baby momma are worthless pieces of shit, so not Kane and Abel go and live with Adam and Eve. They're ancient people at this point and can't raise two boys on their own. So the kids kind of live strange lives. The older brother, Kane, learned most basic life skills from the next door neighbor and that family basically took care of him. Abel was into video games and stuff and sometimes came over, but he was your typical fat kid.

Fast forward. Adam and Eve are now REALLY old people and the only person who is around to help take care of them is Able. Who is really trying to move on with his life, because Kane went off, enlisted in the Navy and got married.

Adam and Eve get put into a nursing home, suddenly there is a house up for grabs once they kick the bucket. Adam Jr. is now back in the picture and when they Adam and Eve died...he got the house. He didn't take care of anything in the estate, Kane, Able, and Rebecca hate him because he's a crack head and blew all the money and everything on drugs. Now the home belongs to a lawyer who is in charge of the estate. An estate now incredibly indebted and they are trying to sell the house to try and get some of those debts paid off.

Everything that was Adam and Eve's and deemed "worthless" or "not valuable" or just no one had room for was left behind and it's a huge mess because no one cared to take care of a goddamned thing other than themselves and their own interests.

Now the Smith's house lies abandoned and in shambles.

Sometimes, there isn't a happy ending. Sometimes there is. If this house goes the way I'd like it to go, it will. They're selling it as is. No cleaning it out, no anything. Buyer gets it as is, with everything inside.

Your write-up is exquisite. Truly. I always enjoy your posts.

There is so much going on in each of these rooms. I spent a long time looking at the items in the pictures (here & on the shite post). So much to see.

The uneven shelves in #2 are troubling.

The bathroom in #8 looks exactly like the one that was in my grandmother’s house. Those heaters on the wall are golden—especially in a room with so.much.cold.tile.

The painting on the floor in #9…Adam Smith?

Such a sad story, Astro. And you tell it with such raw emotion. So much so that I wonder if you personally know the Smith’s. Which makes this story all the more captivating. I hope things go the way you’d like them to go and there is a happy ending to the tale of the Smith house. Keep us updated, will you?

First of all, you are so perceptive Attic! I didn't even notice the shelves were uneven until you pointed it out. Now I'm examining each picture more carefully.

I had the pleasure of exploring the Smith House as well, and it was a nostalgic journey. There were items in the house that reminded me of my childhood, my adolescence, and even early adulthood. It was beautiful. But very sad too because so many memories were left behind, both physical mementos and emotional baggage.

Thank you so very much!

The uneven shelves are brackets, so it's just annoying for the OCD to handle.

Those fucking heaters nearly burned down a few houses I've been in. They do good at heating, but that gasline in the house is so dangerous and they're so easy for kids to access and play with then they're above the toilet like that. So dangerous. We've removed all of them from every house we ever had. We had a bathroom in our old house that looked JUST like that particular one except pink tile. I remember we ripped the heater out and put a mirror over the hole for a really long time. lol

I don't know if that's Adam Smith or not, to be honest.

I will definitely keep you updated. I am hoping all of that furniture gets taken care of properly, by whomever chooses to buy it.

IndoAnomaly: You're photos are awesome. You took SUCH different photos and saw such different things than I did! Love it.

Thank You for the story on this house Astro. I hope someone gets it soon before the vandals ruin it beyond repair. Great collaboration of pics from both of you! Its always fun to see what each persons point of interest will be. Love the pic of the powder on the bathroom cabinet IA. and Astros dishes on the shelf in B&W.

Looks like Amanda was packing some heat.

Nice job, Indo. Once again I find myself lingering on each photo, taking in every little detail. It’s intriguing to me how many commenters expressed a collective feeling of nostalgia when viewing these sets. We can relate to these items. This house. Maybe even the people who used to call this place home. And yet, I feel the urge rising to go in there with a trash bag (or 100) & clean it up.

Looks like it was a fun explore. Thanks to Astro & Indo for sharing it with us.

P.S. No pics of the “pool”??

This is the pool. It's been covered. It makes me gag to even look in the holes. It's so black and gross inside.
