Island off Vancouver Island BC with abandoned lighthouse, this island has all kinds of weird things throughout the woods on this island and on the adjacent islands, it is quite a large island I believe there to be more structures throughout possibly. The lighthouse at the one end, with its many outbuildings throughout, The lighthouse has been abandoned for many many years and now has been being abused and broken into and basically completely unmaintained and forgotten by the government. One of the existing keepers building used to be the light house for many years before the lantern was removed and the tower built. If you do go there please respect this lighthouse it has been horribly abused in recent years by vandals. There also used to be a WW2 lookout post directly next to the lighthouse, and the one half was owned for many years by an early settler before donating it, the rest being native reserve. The island was supposedly popular with rum runners, with the early lighthouse keepers accomplices. It is rumoured that there is a bomb shelter on the island for the lighthouse, which would make sense as the only target in Canada to ever to be shelled in WW2 supposedly by a Japanese submarine, was a lighthouse on Vancouver Island. Anyone know anything more about this island or adjacent islands? (corrected Vancouver to Vancouver Island 3/3/15 -Ganesha)

This looks like quite a location, man! I suspect nobody has commented on it yet because we're all on Google Maps trying to locate it. For having been torn up by vandals, it's remarkably clean looking. Where is all the graffiti?

Those picture are all from the last couple years, it has mostly been vandalised since. It's just at this location it's a piece of history and would like to see to preserved for as long as possible, the government may tare it down if it gets messed with too much.

Of course, how silly of me not to think of that. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. What a shame, it really does look like a beautiful spot. It's all really neat, but I particularly like the documents and schematics (that diagram of the tower's radio sends me back in time!) I'll have to check this out some day. Thanks for posting about it!

Oh, now that is interesting. I'd love to go see one of those big lenses still in place. Nifty equipment shots, too.

Since I live in the area, I would like to get together with someone to go see this place. Luigi, how accessible is this place in terms of security and not being caught? Send me a PM.

You're not in a brothel lineup. You're in a two way business discussion. |

It is a public area, few people venture out to the island.

One of my dream explores is to explore a lighthouse someday myself. Sadly I don't live anywhere near such a location. I notice the Coca-Cola can inside the electrical panel, how very precarious.
I like the pictures. The log entry from 1982 is especially cool...

I found this quite interesting. Only one Lighthouse near me and i don't think anyone has been in that one in many years. Never knew there was so much room in these places. Thanks ever so much for the tour.

I seriously have to get out there, it's within arms reach, well... at least a boats reach.

I agree, I think the log book is especially unique. The book appears to be in such clean, fantastic condition for something simply sitting there unsecured for as long as I have been around, Really neat.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! |

So is this other lighthouse on the same island as the first?

Well, where do I start. It's always a pleasure to have HacktheRipper by my side. Luigi went out of his way to make our Exploring go to a whole new level. Not a lot of people get the chance to Explore these areas. Again Luigi, Thanks
