Desolate Wings

Started the night out at another location (which I will probably post later) but ended up going back to a location I had been meaning to hit up. As we drove up we checked the security situation, which seemed moderate to light. After that we picked a good spot to park, and do a quick scout of potential POI's. Once we figured out how were were getting in, we realized that we didn't think we would need a shovel. Well there is an old saying about Necessity something something Invention.... This proved true. It was necessary to get under a fence, and my tripod suddenly became a shovel..... Anyways a brief run down, now have some photos.....

P.S. I saved these off my FB page to my work comp then upped to my site, so I apologize for the crappy quality from the FB compression ughhh

Old airplanes and old ships touch my soul. I've never figured out why but they do. In so many ways they retain their majesty even in their death throws. Your photos do the planes great justice.

Even when I was quite young, my dad would drive past the aircraft scrap yard in Tucson and I would feel sad that those beautiful craft being ingloriously torn apart. Ahhh the horror.

I wanted to know the story of each one of the airplanes. Who were their crews? Were they still alive? What air bases they were stationed at? The operations that they participated in? The close calls then bringing their crews safely home. Every craft had books and books of stories left untold. Yes, I get quite sentimental about them.

Thanks all....... I obviously am not nearly as active in the exploration as I sued to be with other aspects taking over, but still get to jump into my locations every once in awhile lol

This is one of a few locations on my map that are on a to do list when I have time. ;)

Planning one more trip back here soon, but just not sure when I will squeeze it in......
