We had a run in with the guy that claims to be the owner of this asphalt factory. Right after coming onto the property, he came up to talk to us. He kept saying he was okay with us being there, but it seemed like he wasn't all there. He kept talking in circles and would say weird things like "Brazil wants to purchase the land". We decided he probably has some undiagnosed issue. I have a video of him talking, which I'll have to share after editing. It was all very strange. Anyway, after he finally walked off, we got to explore. I started with climbing the structure of the machinery. Stairs by jecht360, on Flickr Gasoline? by jecht360, on Flickr Then checked out the control room. Control Board by jecht360, on Flickr Lots o' buttons by jecht360, on Flickr There's always a chair by jecht360, on Flickr Data Register by jecht360, on Flickr Crane by jecht360, on Flickr Green on the inside by jecht360, on Flickr
We ran into someone else while looking at this last truck. That was when we decided we had enough of dealing with people and headed back home.

At least there were no banjos playing while there.

You went!! YES!! How cool is that place?! So much to see. Sorry about the weirdos. We didn't encounter that. Either way, great pics!

Not all human interactions that are out of the ordinary need to be filmed and uploaded to the internet. Youtube is already a plethora of homeless people exploited with free pizzas and money for the sake of someone's Youtube hits, and people with mental health issues filmed in public places. If you really want to help someone who is down on their luck, feed them but leave the cell phone in your pocket. If someone has mental health issues, show some empathy and don't record them. My opinion only.

I agree with this whole-heartedly. Coming from a family with many relatives suffering from mental issues, posting your interactions with that man seems very insensitive. Although it may be viewed as "interesting" or "different" because its not something you experience on a daily basis, it's a sad reality that that man faces everyday and it's not to be shown off for the interest of others. Just think of how you would feel if that man was your father or grand-father, and you had discovered that someone had filmed him in a scenario like that.

Jecht had a Go-Pro already rolling on his head when this all went down. Plus I doubt the idea is to make one of THOSE videos. Also, personally, I don't think he's mentally ill at all. I think he was just trying to be funny without realizing how terrifying he actually sounded.
Oh, and the guy gave his consent for us to be there. The video would have gotten us out of trouble if the guy was trying to stall us until police arrived, which we were all half expecting.

I don't know if he was mentally ill as much as he was just trying to fuck with us LOL

The only thing mentally ill about the guy was his fashion sense. Dude was dressed like a canadian mountie in cowboy boots.

I had been recording everything starting the second we walked onto the property. It's not like I pulled my phone out the second he started talking. The man actually requested that I put it online for everyone to see. He wasn't "down on his luck", he was there in a brand new truck with his son and grandson. As Roachqueen said, he could've just been screwing with us.

For future instances, I hope it is at least clear that you came across quite differently in your initial statement. Moving on.. Nice shots

Oh, I still stand by my original statement that he didn't seem quite right. I was simply stating that Roachqueen and Dammband may be the ones that are correct, as we will never have a way to find the truth. I drew my conclusions from the experience, as did they. Of course, at this point, you're just arguing over how I worded my post. I'm willing to recognize that it may have come across as insensitive, so I apologize to anyone upset.

Damn it. After seeing updates to this post I realized I posted additional pics to your post, instead of mine. Should I move them?

Thank you Roach for posting more pics of that old truck 9, 10, 11. I've got a serious thing for those old beasts. I just want to jump in there and drive it around for a bit, a man can dream, right?

Yeaahhh, so maybe I'm just a transportation geek in general haha. I have more shots of these trucks in my archive. That one in particular was super cool; foliage had made its way inside & was twining around the steering wheel & gear shifters. Kinda wish I had color film with me too!
