New to urbex so I am still getting the general gist. Im from Seattle and the only sites Ive been to so far are active sites (construction). Can someone tell me a little bit more about this? Like precautions and such? also, should i be more careful about posting my photographs if the site is a construction site?

You are likely to get in a bit more trouble if caught at an active construction site, but the basic guidelines are mostly still exactly the same as an abandonment. Do keep an eye out for cameras though! I've seen lots of construction sites with cameras, and have known people that have actually been caught because of them. As for posting photos: 99% chance nothing is going to happen, but if you want to be extra cautious, it's certainly not a bad idea to either keep them on FM-only threads or private parts of the web, and/or wait to post them until your statute of limitations has passed, at which point you can pretty safely do whatever you want with them.

A construction site is much more likely to have people who care about it. OTOH they seem easier to enter. And they often have opaque fencing. Some people say that wearing a hard hat and safety vest into a construction site is helpful. I guess that would work better to confuse passers-by than to disarm the suspicions of the construction crew.

Like someone said, be on the lookout for security guards, patrols, cameras, and especially motion detectors. A few of my friends exploring a mill accidentally tripped a motion detector. All of a sudden they see this little weird white box on the wall and then it began blinking red...oops. If you get caught by the 5-0, be prepared to get guns drawn at you (personal experience). Do your research on the location and have fun!
