Where should I move? entry by Noah Vale 8/2/2004 2:33 AM
| If anyone reads my journal, I would appreciate any you may have on the following matter: My school has it set up to where we do our 1st 2 years in Amarillo, and then our last 2 years in either Amarillo, Lubbock, or Dallas. Amarillo for another 2 years is out of the question, not because I hate it here, but because I need to see something new. So my choices are Dallas and Lubbock. It's a tough decision and come this Sept.-Oct. I've got to decide. Here's the pros and cons of each city: Lubbock: * My bro (and his friends, who are sorta my friends)lives there. (I consider this a good thing BTW) * It's a college town. * Hardly any traffic * I would have a free gym to work out at with a rock wall * It's a little closer to home (Houston) * I don't know anyone besides my brother and his friends * People are friendlier in Lubbock than they are in Dallas * Still sorta close to the mountains and skiing * Seems like lot's to explore UE wise * Cheap rent * Still close to Amarillo, where I've made a few great friends * I like exploring in cities without UE "scenes" * Not a "centralized" location (see Dallas) * School is in "nice" part of town Dallas: * My friend and exploring buddy Dirtbag lives there * Lotsa traffic * I would have to pay for gym membership * Dallas is close to important major cities to me (Austin, OKC, FW, Houston, and Nashville) * Rent is alot more expensive * My school is in South Dallas, which according to those I've talked to is a pretty rough area of town * It's a major city...ie, it is more diverse * Definitely a ton to explore UE wise
I dunno, I need some help making this decision, so if anyone has any input, I'd be delighted to hear it.

hmm, on a personal note, I'd rather not have you living in me, I've got a enough bad shit there, so move to Lubbock

I'd say Vancouver. errr, since you didn't put that on the list... Lubbock.

um...New york.

I'd say go with Lubbock, it sounds like a much nicer place, and having met you I'm sure it won't be long until your making all sortsa new friends wherever you go. So it's probably not that big a con. And a free gym with climbing wall is wicked sweet!

Lubbock sounds good, with the money you save on rent and gym fees you can travel more (or just get drunk a lot )

Saw the title of this thread and figured I'd suggest a number of UE-rich places around the country or around the world. But, alas, if all your choices are in Texas, I really don't have any input.
I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird. Iowa is Minnesota's bitch. There's an art to pooping. | |
So, did you ever decide? I don't really have any input on Lubbock or Amarillo but as for Dallas, all I can say is you can come down and explore places in my area more easily.

Yeah, I decided on Lubbock. Thanks for everyone's input.

Oh well. At least you're a little closer. One of these days we need to meet half way in Abilene and look for the numerous missile silos. I know of at least 12 Atlas sites all within a few miles of that city. Not sure of any of their conditions though.
