Does anyone here care about Vanagons?

Ah Im bored so I figured I would show you guys what ive been up to lately. My red 87 westfalia's RUSToration is going well, replaced the whole one side with brand new sheet metal. Once im done with the drivers side the passengers side just needs a new quarter panel and then its stripping down time and going to the body shop for a full (same color) repaint.

Then a few months ago I bought this old girl cause I needed a few odds and ends and it had a mint rear hatch (need it for the westfalia). So ive been selling it off piece by piece to keep other vans on the road already sold off twice what I paid for it in parts so far. (first pic is its resting place since 1996)

Craigslist wanted ad payed off! bought this sweet 91 vanagon gl (last year for the vanagon) really good condition with only a bit over 100k on it. The fellow owned it since 00 and its first and only break down landed it in my hands for a great price. Turned out to only need a distributor! The guy just put a brand new stereo in it and he even threw in the Yakima roof rack setup!

I'm working on an '84 at the shop right now. One owner, he had a rebuilt engine installed this past summer when he cooked his on a road trip. Had it towed to us after he changed his oil, ran it for 5 minutes with the oil light on and it seized.

There was NOTHING in the oil filter- my thoughts are that he forgot to add oil until it was too late. He's blaming the rebuild shop but his story has changed about 25 times now.

I'll get "it", where "it" is the immediate desire to be gnawed to death by radioactive weasels.

The only thing you wont be getting is up hills, but in all seriousness theres nothing that drives like these things and once you get the bugs worked out there the most practical things ever (IMO).

My neighbor is part of the cult and seems to find an endless supply of parts for his Vanagon. He's currently on number three in as many decades.

For as bad a rap as VW gets, it's hard not to knock that level of durability.

I sold my '69 Westy last month for a pretty healthy profit.
