Being from the area I made an effort to contact the local news hoping they would shine a light on this place and help seal it for good. They were astounded with the location but not interested in running a story. Other explorers have contacted the police only to be told they already knew about it. I have no problem photographing the dead guy - it's part of exploring. DB, pick your battles. Don't chastise explorers for what we do.

Fuck the dead. I cannot for the life of me understand what kind of twisted delusions cause the idea of respecting a corpse. However, please try to not fuck corpses out of respect for the people who have feelings for the deceased.

Well, I was gonna try to stay out of this one but now I'm gonna put my bit in on this. Mandias is correct, the dead are dead and they don't give a hot steamy shit anymore about all their worldly troubles and cares. The idiotic idea that they cant rest in peace if their bones are not cared for in some "proper" way is the same thinking that leads people to bury their wives, slaves, and other worldly possessions with them so that they may have a better afterlife. Build a fucking pyramid already. I'm supporting Dammband on this issue, he is right in that this location has been blown up, put on 4chan with location details and badly vandalized for all the attention it has received and it needs to be dealt with before people start stealing the bones. After that its going to be someone taking a skull trophy, pulling a train on the eye sockets and fuck we have Yellowsonw all over again. I don't think Dammband and Lelandro are contradicting each other. People have been contacting the proper authorities through various channels to address this but all to no effect, it seems that we care more about it than they do. I guess that Georgia has no room to point fingers after what we were guilty of at the Tristate crematory but damn, these bodies need to be buried and not vandalized. I would ask that Send4help pull some strings to make something happen if he could be so kind. If nothing else can be done than my thoughts are to pull ALL the coffins into the middle of the road and let everyone see exactly what needs to be seen. Problem solved.

Jumping in since I originally posted the place on UER. I'm very disappointed to see this place go to hell so quickly. I can't say exactly how this happened, since I only shared the location with a few people here who had good reputations. Unfortunately, this is the circle of life. Locations will always find their way into the ears of people who have no regard for preserving them, whether UER is involved or not. The best we can hope to do is preserve them through photography before that happens- especially with a location that has such a low barrier to entry (walk in the front door!). I've personally reached out to the Jefferson County Health Department about the safety of this building, but like Once-ler said above me, the proper authorities likely care less than we do. I disagree with some of you on the body. It should not be tampered with. Not because you should respect the dead (BS)- but because you should respect the location. "Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints."

Dammband, I don't see the posting of the dead persons name to be any less tasteful than the posting of the skeleton itself. If you have an issue with one, you should have an issue with both... And to call out those who did one, while you're doing the other, would seem to be pointless. Just an observation.
Posted by RescueMe1060 did someone really kick in the cross/podium....?? really....wtf is up with the southeast or maybe I'm just seeing things
|
Cause there are absolutely no vandalized churches, mosques, or cemeteries in the Northeast, the great lakes, or anywhere else... Yup, must be a stupid Southerners thing. I mean really? WTF? Talk about a misguided statement.
Posted by RescueMe1060 I'm really hoping this isn't yet another example of UER leading to the destruction and in this case the desecration of a place such as this. Some of you senior members of the area need to step it up and get the authorities involved in this place. the guys who opened the casket: y'all are some sick fucks. please seek professional help.
|
This place was vandalized and wide open before it was ever posted on UER. And did you ever stop to think that someone opened the casket to confirm there was indeed a body, that way they didn't look like an idiot contacting the authorities when there was actually no reason to do so? A casket is just a casket, plenty of us have found caskets while exploring... A body makes it different. You seem like a person who is quick to judge, and slow to think... No offense.
It's a shame that this location is exposed the way it is. And it's a tragedy that those bodies sit there. But while you are all arguing over the morals and ethics of this location and the actions of those who have been there, stop and ponder the fact that the authorities don't care as much as you do.

I don't know what all the fuss is about, aside from the bones, this place looks boring as hell....
It seems like everyone is fighting over a piece of day old pizza

Lets add to the fact that Dammband drove the 2-3 hours from Atlanta to go see the body himself because there's really no other reason to be out there, the spot itself is crap and then most likely took photos of the corpse himself. He seriously needs to check himself because his moral compass is shit.

So since all the caskets appear to have been open now, how many bodies are actually there? I could see one or two bodies being forgotten about by distant relatives but if there were more than that I would assume that someone would be suing ol Clyde's ass off.

Well, this location was discussed openly on 4chan last week. Who knows

4Chan is GOD. We are blessed. Also, you may not borrow that body to do naughty things to it

Giving the bones a name reminds the living of the person that was. The owner of this place fucked up. Up to 7 families paid to have their loved ones taken cared of.

It was a good thing I was in town that day dropping off a recently departed. Driving 2 to 3 hours wouldnt be worth it. If any one drove that far for this place then that sucks.I did take a photo of this guy while I was there but not the other body. There are enough of those photos on this site and flicker.
Also my moral compass says that this spot and Al's Diner are in the same city. I dont know about you be if you missed this place then you missed out.
