About the margins of a defunct container shipping yard lie relics of the harbor's past. One of them is a pair of circular concrete enclosures--apparently the foundations of water tanks. One is now used to hold what we might charitably call "fill," an evil-smelling black sludge. The other is overgrown. A pair of corrugated steel sheds sits next to them, shrouded in blackberry vines. They're full of pipes, valves, pumps and other equipment. Google maps satellite view
West shed
This site is not a big deal. But I like pipes, so I came back with TunnelRunner33 and a better camera. He found handwritten labels on pipes referring to various hydrants, tanks, etc. So it was a water system. Inside the west shed
We could hardly get in the door of the east shed, due to blackberries and a mound of sludge that's slowly ingesting it.
