Just my opinion, but I find it irresponsible to light a bunch of tea light candles and place them behind wooden doors in a wooden building where you can't see them all to know whether something is going awry. If it was a three-drawer morgue, totally fine, but 18? Not so much. Especially since your friend fell through some stairs while you were under them, so you're obviously not the A team.

I do realize this is an old post; not sure exactly why it was revived. The bridge to the island is gone now.

I'm shocked that all of the refurbed buildings are just sitting there going to Hell. Are there any tour boats going to the artillery battery or is it completely shut down like North Brother? It seems one could go island-hopping but if the Coast Guard is patrolling, and I'm sure they are, it looks like a lose-lose situation, entirely.

Was the morgue in the one completely abandoned building or in the rehabbed complex?

It's safe to answer this one, kids. Unless you're parachuting onto the island, nobody's going there.

"Are you happy now with all the choices you've made?" "Are there times in life when you know you should've stayed?"
"Will you compromise and then realize the price is too much to pay?" "Winners and losers... which one will you be today?"

Or unless you take a boat...

The morgue is in a small building apart from the main complex. There is a surprising amount of activity still out there. The farm is active, growing veggies for b.good restaurants. There's a water truck and a short bus that drive around, plus a pickup truck at the firehouse.

I understand your opinion based on all the Idiots that are out there. But we are the A+ team. We are always well prepared. My guys have traveled this country and the world doing this without any real problems. If you do something over and over you are bound to have a bad day at least once. That was ours in all years working together. The tea candles were very well placed with very little chance of anything catching fire anywhere and we had some contingencies in place in case something did catch fire. That was a risk we prepared for going in. We had it planned out for long time. Exploring by default will have it's inherent risks and I use other peoples mistakes with my own intuition/knowledge to get in and get out safely. That stair case was good enough on the way in and not good enough on the way out. Other people before us have used it with no issue. Maybe we were tired at the end of the 5 hour over night explore(in a snowstorm) but we missed the weakness and he fell about a foot trough it. We got out with no injury and understand that these things can happen. 1 incident in over 13 years of exploring. I'm ok with our odds.

The tea candle idea is really cool, the artificial light from flashlights would've been harsh whereas this is really nice and smooth. In the few weeks I've been on UER I've noticed there's a small collection of people who will find any post and try their hardest so show you how uninformed/ignorant you are and why what you're doing is wrong in 7 different languages. Seems like you knew exactly what you were doing and you know the risks and how to mitigate or avoid them, looking forward to more tea light pictures

It is to be expected with the internet. I try not to get to defensive but we do put in a solid effort in everything we do so it comes out once in a while lol.

I accidentally gave you a like because my hand was shaking with rage
-jeeeezse-
Fires in abandoned structures are unacceptable, in my opinion. I wouldn't condone the use of tea candles/steel wool while trespassing no matter how pretty it looks. I personally have seen the results of using tea candles for light. It risks the lives of firefighters, makes them unavailable to fight other fires and destroys structures.

My comments are not necessarily directed to Ghost5, however the previous comment on the use of tea candles is valid, perhaps not so much in this shoot.
I'm sure the assholes that lite up (place name here) thought they knew how to mitigate the risks too... especially when they didn't get busted for arson. It only takes a piece of unseen dry kindling in a wall to start a raging inferno. Fires can take off fast and become uncontrollable to spite your best intentions.

It's happened to members here.

I completely agree. I understand many things can and do happen. We can never truly know every risk of everything we do. I ran through hypotheticals. In this case we decided we could place tea candles without risking the wooden doors/frames. I understand why anyone would and should question someone lighting fires even in "controlled environments". Ive seen the linked articles and been to locations that have burned down. I work in the construction industry and all we do is think safety and plan our routes/methods to execute the the task at hand. Fire safety and over all site safety is huge. I'm open to healthy debate and know that when it comes to this topic i'd be on the losing side with most people. But it is what we do. I didn't have a problem with anyone objecting to the tea candles, the biggest problem with is telling me we are not the A team lol. If you were there in person you would see the set up and have an understanding but nobody was with us so the point is moot I guess. I'm not trying to sound cocky or arrogant altho it might come through as that with this being text, but I am a well prepared person. I dont just trust thinking I know something, I make it a point to know I know something and admit when im wrong and/or dont know.

Im definitely not telling people to run out and light 10 tea candles and just stick them anywhere. Maybe I should have put a disclaimer in my earlier response.

Also I gave you a "like" to return the unintended like, also for making a post on the internet while making sense having good points and being logical.

I gave your original thread and images a "like" intentionally as I do like it. I wuv a good morgue.
What bothered me was Long Legs post.

Incandescent lights are a viable alternative to tea candles with no wind issues, plus you can use defusers to get more even light coverage. With a little digging on the internet for them or modification you could put dimmers on them to bring down the color temp or use rbg LED bulbs with an variable constant voltage X3 output for complete color temp control.
