Mike Mulligan and Friends

This one is for you Astro. I know its not Draglines or Steam shovels but these old beasts were still a ton of fun to crawl all over and poke inside. Most people will probably recognize the location, its so not hard to find. We had the whole place to ourselves that day and made nice use of the unsupervised time. The tunnels were much less flooded this time and we went through all the buildings, even making it to the tops of the furnaces for some spectacular shots of the whole facility. The folks here were super nice to us so if you go here just be respectful. I've always had a fun low key time shooting here and always come away with some nice pics.

Oh, onceler, these are amazing, is she not an electric shovel? She sure looks like one. And oh does she make me ever giddy to see. What a gorgeous beast she is, dawning such lovely rusted gears and heavenly aged workings. Be she dragline nor steam, her aging grace is still so present and fine. With oaths kept waking and brawling fed, she stands with the beauty of a tamed monster with hunger for movement and desire to continue work for which she was so carefully designed.

Wonderful <3

So is this place like a public park? And if so, do they just let you wander around, even up the catwalks on the furnaces? Or was that a bit of off-limits exploring? Nice pictures by the way!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

Thank you ever so much for your kind words Astro, they were such magnificent electric beasts in their time. I was thinking that you would love this place the whole time I was shooting

Thanks man, I loved sitting in the operators seat playing with the controls, I only wish that I could make it work again. How fun would it be to drive one of these things around?

So is this place like a public park?

Yep, its a public park but with very little supervision and worth the explore. Its very interesting to see how this place operated when active which was not all that long ago.

Thank you Misunderstood, Rest Time was one of my favorites as well, It just looked like the beast had put its head down to catch a nap and fell asleep a little too long.
