I'll definitely drop you a line if I'm out Detroit way - unfortunately I've yet to make the trip. One of these days for sure tho And please do let us know what your friend says about laws specific to the US/Michigan...The bulk of my research has been around Canadian law and I'd be interested to learn more about the US equivalents. My guess is that you're very similarly protected, but you never know

she doesnt know and i dont think shes going to look into it. however, "they" make laws to fit their needs. for example: you wont get a trespassing ticket in detroit. in order to prosecute a trespassing case, the owner has to be there to say you didnt have permission (remember, innocent until proven guilty). so what detroit did was write a new law called "Enter Without Owner Permission", leaving you to prove you had written permission. its bullshit, but it gets worse... now that everyone knows to fight every ticket they get, the cops have been giving out EWOP AND 'removing fixtures from a building'. that way, you only get off on one in a deal in court

Thankfully, copyright law is federal and isn't dependent upon where in the country you are.
