I came to this regional board to look for people to possibly meet up with. Thinking about heading to Oakland to visit some friends sometime over the winter. January probably. Maybe sooner. I'd be down to fly over from Baltimore and kill two birds with one stone.

Ah cool, great response. Sounds like the normal crew is assembling. Link in instagram kiddies that we should invite if you know any, or other non-UER folks.

Don't worry LostAmerica, I too am tied up on full moon weekends.

Here's some I've already reached out to who are interested:

Having met all 3 of them on different occasions, I think it's a good idea for me to come as well. I'm not exactly a senior member of this community, but I'm sure I can also benefit from general advice at this meetup.

good lord, I've been on this website for 10 years...

Hahah! There really ought to be some special prize or something for that, UER geezer/veteran status...? Kind of just amazing that this place has been active this long, actually.

The last meetup Freeside hosted was way awesome, so if there's another one I'd def be interested if I'm available that day though haven't done a ton of exploring as of late. Too busy being law abiding these days.

Uh, it's November already. My current schedule allows:
Thanksgiving weekend: 11/29 or 11/30

Dec 13/14 or
Dec 20/21
Dec 27/28

I'd prefer thanksgiving weekend. Not sure how many of you this eliminates.

My second choice is Dec 13/14.

This won't be anything near as elaborate as the last meetup. I was thinking of doing it old-school 2600 hacker meeting style and meeting at the payphones at Embarcadero/Justin Herman Plaza, but I'd kinda like food. But then restaurants get complicated.

I'll send out a note to my non-UER contacts and poll them on timing.

Dec 13/14 would work for me. Out of town on Thanksgiving weekend.

Drumm & Market St has a starbucks, T-Bell, some little deli cafe place, a Walgreens, some burger lounge and even.....a psychic

this is all directly behind the embarcadero center (which also has plenty of places to eat at inside)

This is gonna sound pretentious but I've organized a lot meetups and trust me there is a point:

Mojave January '10
Mojave April '10
Mojave Dark Descent
Salton Sea
UER art show

Plus a few others where only a few people showed.

Pick a date. Stick to it. If people really wanna go they'll make time. Everyone has the perfect date for themselves but not for you. If they find it impossible to make it they'll go to next one. Good luck and hell I might even come up from LA.

Ok, Saturday Dec 20th it is. This seems to work best with all involved.

I'll make a call on the location. I'm thinking Oakland this time.

Wonderful. My friend who I was planning on visiting in December is in Oakland and will let me crash for a while. So this syncs up pretty well.
