Aug 11, 2014. shuttered in 1996. For 32 years, the complex was a holding facility for the city's youngest and deadliest criminals. It’s still considered one of the most dangerous places, where 25 people have been slain there in the past decade alone. The youngest child there was age 7; they also had a 10-year-old boy who was a "top-of-the-line" car thief, and one boy who was already convicted of murder in adult court. So I of course had to go and take pictures. 1.

Wow. You went IN? The mold situation and completely boarded-up windows dissuaded us.

Very nice take of one of the first places that I ever explored. The first and fifth ones are my favorite

The walls are falling apart and you could easily have climbed through one of the windows or the roof. It's definitely not the coolest place to explore in that neighborhood but it's definitely worth a look if you're in the area

I live in northern va. was in the norfolk area for a couple of days for work. been to the Fulton Gas works in richmond. but since not from there, not sure where to go. saw this place and the asylum (cant remember name at the moment...still have to edit the pictures). maybe next time i'm there, we can hook up and explore the area together, or you can fill me in on the great places to go (if you don't mind). Thanks!

Word Fulton is a classic but it's been getting a lot of police attention lately. I think they're starting to use the grounds for something else because last time I drove by there was some type of equipment inside the fence it appeared that they had cut the grass. My friend actually got caught there but he's a film student at VCU who was working on a project so they just let him off with a warning. Yeah man for sure! Shoot me a message next time you're in RVA and we'll link up. Do you do much exploring in NOVA? I'm from Arlington and I've only found one really cool place

I don't know, the kind of history that place has gives it some cool points in my book. Definitely a place I want to check out.

I'm not saying it isn't worth checking out but it's not my favorite building in that area. You should definitely go when you get the chance
