Schools, rust outs, and lost prayers

Yep, it's another one of my bulk posts, with the typical "I've been working a lot" excuses. On the plus side, I stopped using my iphone and upgraded to a slightly less lame camera phone. I got the Galaxy s4 Zoom, which features manual focus, aperture and shutter speed controls, ISO and white balance, and (the best part) a tripod mount. I'm taking baby steps to a real, big girl camera.

So here's what I've been doing the past few months, and a little testing out of the new phone. Hope you enjoy!

First: an old school with a playground beneath it. Was pretty cool, but the trip was cut short by some locals calling the police.

On October 2, no dead humans and 2 dogs were found. On October 6, the dogs were gone.

Sadly, the only interior shot I got:

Next: A car graveyard and an old mansion at the back of the property.

oh, and a second school along the way, infested with bees.

Finally, a church with a rectory and sunday school attached.

More to come, but I wanted to break up the posts a bit. Thanks for looking!

Great old cars! Did you get inside the old mansion? Was the person who was obviously shooting up at the church?

Mansion was locked up and if I remember, we were already late to a super bowl party and had to get going. It looked possible with a little more time. The church was in one of the worst NOLA neighborhoods, so it could have been anyone. The place was clearly set up to manufacture drugs as well, but we didn't hang around the setup too long.

What do you mean, "set up to manufacture drugs"? Grow lights? Pumps and chemicals? Funny smells and doors propped open?

In any case, yeah, it was probably smart to scram in that case. I've never encountered a drug lab, and hope I never do. I've heard those things are booby trapped- and not always with traps that just let them know someone's there, either.

A bunch of chemicals and burners set up in rows on tables. I GUESS it could be something else, but I have a feeling it wasn't.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.
