Oh man I wish I had was able to go here after it closed. I grew up in East Longmeadow, MA and my Grandfather was one of the very first motorcycle cops in Springfield and was in and out of York Street daily. He rode Indian motorcycles. I worked with a guy who actually had to spend a little time in this place back in the late 80s. My Dad worked for the phone company and not only worked on the switchboards and phones at York Street he also worked on them at Northmapton State (where my other Grandfather passed away in 1957), Belchertown and Monson He used to tell me how he needed extra security when he was at the jail because they would try to grab his toolbelt and call him sweetheart etc lol

That place looks awesome! I have always wanted to explore a abandoned jail. Don't know of any near me though. All the ones in the area are still in use, so not somewhere I have any desire to be!!
