This is my first exploration since joining the site. The location was an underground mall in the American South-East in use during the 1970s and 1980s, closed down in the 80s, and a bunch has recently been used as storage by stores built on top of where it was located. I've always been intrigued by it since it had an awesome music scene and a cool arcade in it, but unfortunately was closed down before I was born (and since ever got a chance to visit the area). Unfortunately, a lot of the walls had been knocked out (to make space I guess, but I do not know for sure). There was some cool graffiti and some of the original artwork from when it was in use is still up on the walls, but the paint was peeling and in pretty bad shape.

Welcome to the boards! I liked the combo of personal story/location history in the writeup.

My suggestion? Cull your photos next time and just post the 10 you think are the very best

Great location! I like that it's underground, not many places like that besides smelly sewers and drains. It is hard to believe that place became dead before the internet shopping boom.

Based on what I could find, new management didn't like the fans showing up for the punk bands that played at the clubs. I guess didn't want to have a big city reputation with old fashioned locals. But the official word was that they also didn't want to spend the money bringing up the whole place to fire code.

The place I went to is in NC. But the place in DC looks cool based I what I've been able to find! I'd love to explore that place if I get the chance.

That place seems cool, just looked it up today. I'm gonna try to scope it out next time I'm in that area.
