Does anyone remember where the barber shop at Pennhurst is located? I've heard it's somewhere in the tunnels between Administration and the above-ground outlet for the medical building.

It's part of the "Halloween Attraction".

is it just me or is turning Pennhurst into a haunted house just extremely tacky and disrespectful? I cringed when I heard this...

was just discussing this with a guy at work. teaching people about the real horrors that went on their would be more terrifying than some haunted attraction, and be a respectful way to honor those that suffered life there
The camera relieves us of the burden of memory. It surveys us like God, and it surveys for us. Yet no other god has been so cynical, for the camera records in order to forget |

The owners of the Pennhurst Haunted Asylum understand that it's distasteful to exploit Pennhurst's actual history, so they concocted a false story. Instead of Pennhurst being a State School and Institution for children with developmental disabilities, it was an asylum for the criminally insane. Luckily for the haunt owners, people seem to prefer their version of the story.

It's located in the basement of the Limerick building. It was basically trashed around like 2010 so nothing worth seeing.

So not only did they build a tacky haunted house out of a place with an actual extensive, historically important but very dark past, they freaking ignored that actual history and used some made up bullshit? That just seems to make it even worse... at least if they had discussed the real history people could have learned something. America.... sigh
