Linda Vista

I'm not sure if anyone is aware of this, but the Linda Vista hospital is under construction now and being refurbished. I went to check it out with some friends, and we came across the construction site. :\

I was pretty disappointed, hoping I could hit it up before this happened, but I wanted to give a heads up to anyone who wanted to explore it but couldn't get to it like me. To everyone who was able to check it out, mind sharing photos? I'd love to see what this place was like before.

I'm usually not in the LA area unless for work, I should have paid more attention/do research before I went. Are they really making it into condos? I heard it's being made into a senior home or something.

Linda Vista is one of the first UEs I ever did, and when my buddy and I went there the guard on duty told us that the place was being prepared either for total demolition or reconstruction. There was scaffolding all over the place. This was about three months ago.

I don't know how much real progress has been made on the place since then, but the guard made it seem like they were pretty close to starting some serious work on it.

Do you have any photos of its current state?

Watch any bad movie on the SyFy channel. I calculated I spent over two months working there total.

Did you take any pictures of the place when you went?

There were a ton of construction workers and a lot of work has been done. I didn't, we drove by with disappointment and went to our next stop.

I doubt that now with construction. The whole place is being redone. It looked gutted when I drove by.

I got really depressed when I heard that place has been getting destroyed to be a retirement home. That's been a place of my nightmares for years, yet I'm so drawn to and crazy about that place. I even did and art piece and a poem about it for school. I've always hoped to someday go to Last and explore it, but now finally when I am traveling there for once, it's been taken away!

Those "Ghost Adventures" guys can go die in a hole. Here is a transcript from one of their shows:

"DUDE!"
"BRO!"
-
-
"BRO!"
"DUDE!"

repeat for one hour, or until your revolver's barrel finally falls on a live round, thus ending the torment of that crap fest.

Also, wasn't Linda Vista setup as a filming location a long time ago? I don't really follow the Socal abandonments like I should...

I drove by on Monday and took a few snapshots.

Like Flashy said, it looked gutted. Workers were on site, with construction lights on inside the building, and a guard post at the open portion of the fence.

As the sign says, they're turning this historic monument into apartments.

That's exactly what I saw when I went, I'm glad you captured this. But I'm so sad that they're turning the place into apartments, it's such a shame.

I've wanted to visit this place for a long time, but I've heard it's nearly impossible to get into without getting caught. I'd seen some pretty awesome pics from people who managed to get inside years ago.

I know years ago it was easier until people started filming there for movies and Travel CHannel crap. That's what happens when a beautiful place like this is too public...

*sighs* as cool as it is that it's being refurbished (I really love when someone decides to fix a building instead of destroying it) I'm really sad about this. It's been a want of mine to get in here for the longest time. I've been dying to go into the records room. Oh well...
