Photos from a recent trip - Nuclear facility

Yep, the location is most likely pretty obvious as this is a very well known site. Hope you enjoy the photos, regardless

I had the privilege of meeting a veteran member of these forums and of urban exploring yesterday and he convinced me to post a few pictures of the trip. Glad to have made a new friend through these forums.

Sadly, this location is under fire! Contractors are on site and construction is likely about to begin. They have started to clear areas, that not but a few months ago, were well forested. There are also loads of mobile home structures that have been placed there for the contractors and construction crew. Word on the street is a prison, which oddly enough is the type of location I attempted this weekend, unsuccessfully. Since my partner and I walked away empty handed from the attempted break-into prison, we decided to visit this nearby site again, only to find far more activity than our last trip to the location. Not sure how much longer it will be completely viable.

These images were shot with a 5D M III with an l-series 24mm 1.4f. I subscribe to a minimalist approach when editing in RAW. I want to maintain the realism and I try not to make emits that detach from that, even if they "pop" more.

I hope to head back there in a few weeks time either by myself or with others. I'll take pictures of what's going on with the site next time and post them. Yeah, it's a bummer what's going.

Glad you like the photos.

Thanks

#9 and #14 are perfect. Thanks for sharing. On another note, it's sad to hear that there are construction crews there. Are they going to demolish what's left of the cooling tower?

I think the site itself is actually going to remain intact, especially the cooling tower. I highly doubt from a cost standpoint that it's productive to try to demo the tower vs. just maintaining the lights on the top, which is required due to its height for aviation regulations.

When I go back soon I'll be sure to share a little more on whats going on in the site.

The problem is that this place has gotten so much attention online, that the locals have started to become very aware of the massive number of people traveling from across the country to see this place. If it gets demo'd, it's nothing to do with cost efficiency, and everything to do with liability.
