The Queen of Saanich - Anvil island

This isnt very recent but, me and a couple friends went to explore the old bc ferry moored on the back side of anvil island. Launched the boat at porteau cove and headed for the back side of the island, when we got there we were greeted by the salvagers boarding up windows and such getting the ship ready to be tugged down to mexico for scrap. we decided to go fish out a ways from the boat until they left. finally after an hour of watching them from a distance they finally left and it was our turn. There was also an old flat deck ship tucked inbetween the ferry and land. Took nearly all day to explore it all but it was worth it.

Nice work!
Man the water looks beautiful in Howe Sound this time of year.

Some great pics. Such a nice day too. How long do you think it's going to be there for?

That was a while ago? I have sailed passed there a couple times, didn't notice it.
I love the blue water up there, silt is great for anchoring.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

It's been gone since mid-2012. I did my own trip up there and posted photos in another thread. I also managed to salvage (with permission) some swag of my own from the old girl including two of those nice armchairs (one green, one red), a lifejacket, and a few signs. Would have taken a lifeboat too but didn't have a trailer or place to leave it til I could get one.

Seldom do we see locations like that one on this forum; this is truly awesome!

You just made my day.

Wish this was still around to explore... maybe it's not too late if I take a trip to Mexico.

The photographs are awesome.
