Gargantua is alive

A huge tunnel system going from bayview and yorkmills all the way upto finch.
It is waaayy to big for the amount of water it carries. Its pretty dry most of the way infact. I biked for 2 hours inside Gargantua, I went way past the R.I.P ninjalicious graffiti, over the mud and up the hills until it became too small to bike in anymore. Let it be known there is only one way in and out, you cant reach an end and leave through their. My shots arent great as it is pitchblack in their with flashlights off and my phones camera isn't too good. I did take a video with a GoPro chest mount but I havent touched the footage yet.

This, of course, changes with precipitation... Nice job, do share the gopro footage once it isn't 2 hrs in length!

Always a good bike ride.

The sign said "Anybody caught trespassin will be shot on sight"
So I jumped on the fence and I yelled at the house,
"Hey! What gives you the right?" http://www.flickr.com/photos/evman/

I wish it opened up on the other side, when I was biking i kept telling my friend lets go for 5 more minutes, until eventually we could not physically go any further.

Note along the way there are many side tunnels attached to the main tunnel that can be investigated too.

Including precipitation, how much could this thing really fill up?

I've never been to Gargantua specifically, but if the connecting drains are very big, I wouldn't be surprised if it could fill up entirely.

When it rains, no drains!

I would imagine it came somewhat close to capacity last year when it rained so much one day that the Don Valley Parkway flooded.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. Our season for heavy rainfall is short, but none the less present.

Wow the tunnel at full capacity is quite something.
I'd love to see it but then again... I'd rather not
