This happened 3 miles from my home, and I've actually explored this location before the guy who had rented it for what looked like a chop shop, and I did see the freezer in question in the backroom (Looked like one of these kinds: http://images.kane...LitersUBDU300U.jpg) but did not touch it as it did not catch my interest (assuming the body was not there at the time). Let's say if I were to have opened it (curiosity gets to me or something in this scenario, I wear hiking gloves) and discovered the body, what would you do in my shoes? My first thought is to call the police, but then my friend has made the argument that I would become the prime suspect. I still feel like reporting the incident and waiting for the police to arrive would be my best option.

I am still somewhat on edge about finding someone in some of the mine shafts I go through even though I know they have been picked thoroughly. Not only would they make a decent place to dump a body (the inner workings are constantly eroding and collapsing), but awhile ago there was reason to believe a missing woman's body was in one of them around my area:

Anyways to answer OP's question, I'd probably just make sure I wasn't carrying anything illegal (weapon, B&E tools, or drugs) then inform the police. They generally aren't very nasty toward people who tremendously help them develop a case and cooperate.
Reason I wouldn't just leave is that there would probably be evidence of me being there, as ninja I'd like to think I am. Being that the body dump site would itself be a crime scene it would stand to reason that the police would likely want to scourge the area for information of who has been there. That and they can generally identify people who try and tip anonymously. Just better off coming clean and not hindering a case. Oh, and don;t forget to get some radical pictures before they show up!

This happened to some friends of mine here in Philly at a power plant by the water front.
They found some dude that had fallen or was pushed from a five-story abandoned power plant. They simply made an anonymous call from a pay phone at a nearby deli.
The police didn't give a shit and the dead dude baked to the ground in 90+ degree summer weather.
A week later some other guy was walking his dog, found the dead guy, called the police from his cell phone and waited for them.
End of story.

I've said it before, but EVERYONE is somebody's son or daughter, at the very least. Some are spouses and parents, as well.
It might be a hassle, and it might suck for the location, but you absolutely call it in immediately, because the family deserves some closure.
(I mean, obviously you take a shit-load of pictures with your back-up memory card first, because let's be reasonable...)

I thought I had found a dead body once. Thankfully it was just a drunk guy sleeping. In an old bathtub. In the middle of a disused concrete factory. So, nothing weird about that.

I found a ribcage that looked to be the right size to be human, once. It was in the woods behind a location, mostly bare except a tiny bit of rotting meat being pecked off by a couple vultures. I didn't want to get closer because gigantic ugly birds aren't exactly the most comforting animals out there. Anyway, I left an anonymous tip with the police so they could get someone more accustomed to the stuff to go check it out instead, and it never made the news so I'd assume it wasn't human (or they just didn't bother to look). Still, dead things are way more unsettling when there's a chance that they're a person.

I would call the police and try not to go near it to preserve any evidence that might be around.I would also wait for them if it's in a place with dust on the ground they my need casting of my foot prints to eliminate them and I feel I would look guilty if I called and left. I know I watch to much t.v

Also, some kinds found a dead guy from an abandoned house here in Finland last spring. He had hanged himself.
Also^2, there's this one corpse that someone found from an abandoned hospital somewhere in Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine).

There was a kid in like, ohio this past June who went into an abandoned home near his own, and found a guy who hanged himself in the closet. The body had been dead for 5 years, and none of his friends or family reported him missing - must have been a real loner…
