"A Toast to City Hall"

Part 2 of "May the 4th be with you" brought us to Hayward.

Known by locals as "The Toaster", the status on this place changes almost daily so when we saw it was open yesterday morning, we decided to offer it up as an
"extended explore".

I will skip the history because our good friend Dr.Jones said it best:

Unfortunately his post was archived but it's fun to compare the photos to see what changes have taken place since 2009.

While on the roof another group of explorers showed up.
There were about 6 of them and 10 of us so it was a happy gathering.

We moved on to the basement and then to a different portion of the building and about 30min later saw the other group tearing ass out the P.O.E.
They gave us the heads up on the cop car that had just pulled up so we all evacuated and scattered like a bunch of cockroaches.

Thanks again to all who shared this adventure with us!

The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?

Had so much fun that day. Narrowly escaped the grips of the Hayward police.

Nice!! Last time I went we searched for a long while trying to get in. We found a way to get into one part and found gay love letters from prison...and nearly got caught by the cops

Yep. No drywall left anywhere. Entry is difficult, but we didn't seem to have any entanglements with any locals.

I'm adding this to my list if I go ever across the bay.

Probably is. Footing is a pain. It is very sketchy if you're over 6' as balance is a problem.

I'd be down to go with you, if you don't mind meeting up. I've been pretty recently but would always be willing to go back again. The view from the top is so cool.

I've heard there's a bike cop or security guard that rolls by occasionally but not sure if true

I've always meant to check out the japanese gardens; I've always thought it was a homeless encampment down by the creek, but have never been in the area during daylight - I didn't even know that's what it was called until you said so.
