This first distillery was built in 1887 and was considered a showcase of bourbon making in the entire state. It included A peristyle springhouse, sunken gardens, stone bridges, gazebos and castle-like buildings adorned with turrets surrounded the 82-acre property, giving it a charming and imposing feeling. The main offices and plant were constructed entirely of Tyrone, Kentucky limestone, giving the structure a castle-like appearance. Inside the buildings were gardens and rooms used to entertain guests and important officials from the state capital. In the early 19th-century, the distillery was as much as a tourist attraction as the capitol building. Each visitor was given miniature bottles of it's namesake whiskey. 1.

Nice Pictures! This would be an amazing place to explore! I'm a little jealous
|
|
Thanks! It is a fantastic place! I was caught by the caretaker, but it was at the end of my picture taking (i had 1 more building i would have liked to explore, but didn't want to push my luck). He saw i was just taking pixs and told me to leave. Before i did he told me the reason the place was being watched was just the week before vandals came by and set fire to one building. Assholes. So just be careful if you go.

Great job on covering so much ground before getting caught! I've been planning on taking the GF here for awhile... Nice to see It's possible not to get caught right away . Really dig all the b&w shots, well done.

Thanks everyone. I don't use photoshop, instagram or anything that changes the pictures initial appearance. I'll turn color pixs into b/w, but that's it. I'm kind of a purist in that way. Plus, i don't have time to learn the software programs, so whatever comes of the card is what it is! lol.

Awesome location and great pictures, too.
