into higher learning?

This was a historically black college in Mississippi. It was founded in 1905 by the Mississippi Conference of the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church. After desegregation of community colleges in the mid-twentieth century, it had trouble competing and eventually closed in 1982.

Nice shots. I didn't know of this college until now. Thanks for sharing. It's good to see some stuff coming out of Mississippi.

Thanks! I don't know how much longer the buildings will be there. They are pretty bad. If you go, be very careful. Everything's falling apart. I almost fell through the floor twice. Once on the stage, and the other on the third floor of another building. I maneuvered the stairs in one building that were insane...(attached) and when upstairs, part of the roof fell in!

The stairs i maneuvered to get to this level

Great location, and nice shots... Again, really diggin the b&w. I was told the floor of the auditorium had collapsed significantly in that corner... Is that not the case? It doesn't look as bad as it was made out to be.

Wow, you sure did get lucky that you weren't in the spot of the collapse. Good thing. Nice shots and great find. #2 though, it looks kinda creepy but I realy like it! What were the other buildings?

Thanks! All the buildings are part of the college: dorm, auditorium, classroom, etc. The pictures were taken in aug 2013. just getting to posting them now. so the auditorium may be worse, almost a year later. the pictures i posted show bad decay. As stated, my foot went through the floor in 2 separate buildings. i couldn't access a lot of the classrooms and other rooms because of collapsed stairways, huge gaping fall out floors, etc. other floors i tread on very lightly (i weigh only 125 lbs which helps tremendously!). even then, the wood floors gave and i thought i'd go through. i just kept searching for more sured footing. staircases were really bad. had to find stairs that were more stable, sometimes having to jump 3 stairs or so up at a time and trying to land softly. so again, be careful, bring a buddy, rope, and/or let someone know you're going there just in case because although no ones checking on the property, it is really dangerous and very dark in the basements (bring a light). And of course...good luck and have fun! lol.
